** iOS 8 **

I like the way safari gives about 3% extra real estate when you scroll down. The animation is beautiful. For that I'm loving the <20% battery life on my iPad.

Looking forward to a jailbreak.

But dare to scroll up too quickly and it pops back like some hideous meme troll. The mind boggles at how they have messed this one up so bad. and STILL no gesture based browser forward/back. Utter madness.

Mavericks Safari has proper gesture support but a hideously outdated front end, iOS Safari has a sleek front end and no gesture support for absolutely no reason. I am jumping ship and never buying apple again, they have totally lost the plot.

DERP user is scrolling up, so must surely want to change the page dERP no wait, user is scrolling down, intense reading mode engage deeeerp

I have just noticed it doesn't pop back if you proper noobie drag the page from top to bottom slowly enough. You can tell this feature was designed and tested by some middle aged technophobe who can barely use a computer. Personally, I flick around pages to move around them, and apparantly, that means derpderpyderpderp

The biggest iOS 8 problem I've come across, on both my iPhone 5s and iPad Air, is the wifi performance being intermittently poor. Thankfully clearing network settings on both has fixed it.

Swipe to the far left to go back a page or swipe right to go forward?

Quite liking the latest iOS, haven't managed to fault anything so far myself. With my iCloud restore **** up aside.

Actually scrap that. The photo albums **** me off. Merging photo stream with camera roll with 'recently added' and forced to use 'moments'??! What the hell is that all about?

ios8 is buggy as ****

Phone was ringing/vibrating yesterday but there it was not displaying anything, so couldn't answer.

Made a call this morning and could still hear my music in the background.

Have just made two calls to HSBC and both times the person at the other end can't hear me*.

Not happy.

Dragging two and a half inches of screen real estate to switch pages is a chore not a gesture. It's also intermittent. Pulling from the right edge of my iPad picks up the page maybe 1 in 5 attempts.
Give over. Flicking your finger left or right is not a chore :p

You need to swipe from the far left or far right in my experience, so maybe you aren't doing it right.

Actually the page change mark is the middle of the screen, hence the 2.5 inches drag in landscape mode ipad2. The point is it's a grotesque gesture which requires shoulder activation to physically pull your arm the required amount. Flicks are entirely finger and wrist dexterity.

You are seriously stating that you need shoulder activation?! For a 2.5 inch gesture, designed to be performed by your finger?!

The gesture is designed to be done from the very edge of the display. The fact that it "does" work is irrelevant. It may also explain why you're having a 20% success rate.

8. Swipe to Go Back One Screen

This particular gesture works in a bunch of different apps, including Mail, Messages, Settings, Notes, and Safari. If you want to go back a screen—say, from the current message back to your inbox in Mail—just swipe from the very left edge of the screen to right. You can peek at the previous screen or switch to it entirely. In Mail, this will take you to the previous page, or if you swipe in the opposite direction, take you forward.

Anyone know how you stop IOS7 from downloading the IOS8 update ? It seems no matter what I do my Ipad always downloads the IOS 8 update automatically.

After it downloads, go into General > Usage > and it should be top of the Storage List. Tap on it and you should be able to delete it and it'll say it won't re-download unless you tell it to in Software Update.

Really enjoying iOS8 on my 6 plus! I'm just really gutted they didn't include iCloud Photo Library! It's the only photo cloud storage that seems to do the job properly! :(

The gesture works fine if you start your finger from off the edge of the screen and swipe onto the screen.

I do agree though, that on an iPad, that activation point of follow through needs to be changed from 50% to something more like 20 or 30%, as you can't simply do it with your thumb or finger without moving your entire hand and arm.

You don't get that issue on the smaller devices. I was really surprised to encounter this when I started using an iPad. I think that's the kind of attention to detail that should be altered from one device to another.

5S here and battery life has taken a noticable dive. Wifi is also unstable, takes ages to join my home AP then randomly drops. Also I'm finding 3G reception shady which probably explains the battery life in retrospect.

OS wise I love it, just a shame it's borked some of the critical functionality of a smartphone for me. Awaiting a sea of "works fine for me". :)

Personally looking forward to 8.0.1.

Your not alone. But I got rid because it was laggy and unresponsive. In hindsight, it was prob just the spotlight indexing but I didnt stick around to find out.

8.01 and ill switch.
