iOS6 Changing how you see the world

I don't think anyone can warrant trying to defend Apple by saying Google Maps was once like this. I have never recalled the magnitude of comical errors in Google Maps or Earth since I started using them a long time ago, there were the odd few here and there, but nothing of this scale...the quality is just diabolical.

Seeing all those shocking gaffes makes me so glad I stick to Android....that is seriously one massive mistake Apple have made....

The worst part is even if Google release an app (i think they should wait a few months) because it is iOS there will be no way to make it the default.

Even if apple sorts out its issues (by what time Google will have further advanced its own mapping) its no help!

Yelp! is the failing factor. Google search has integrated business info which works. Its mapping is used by loads of websites (Premier Inn for example) for location info. That is the advantage Google has.

Erm, yes it is! A 64GB microSD is £45. That's not debatable, it's fact.

I'm comparing the cheapest way to increase the storage on both phones. On the S3 that happens to be a microSD, on the iphone it's on the built in memory.

That's not really a proper comparison. You are showing the price Apple charges for a 16GB upgrade to it's phone (16GB > 32GB) and then compare it to the price Samsung + <A.N.Other Company> charge to increase the memory by the same amount before then saying Samsung don't rip off customers as much as Apple do.

If you are going to compare 2 companies then you need to keep it that way.

Apple may charge slightly more for the same memory upgrade but Samsung are not that far behind.

At least if you are going to **** off a company and promote another, keep the argument fair.

Just skimmed this, its pretty funny really how desperate some are to defend Apple.

Its as simple as this : it wasn't ready.
Whoever gave the nod to let that go should be shot.
I can only presume they were so desperate to actually have some features to demo for iOS6 they were forced to release it.

It's more flexible though, having more than 1 means of upping storage. What about the battery? You don't need a soldering iron to replace one in other phones, plus you can buy a higher mAh rating than the stock battery and keep spares etc.

I love these threads on OcUK. The Mac boys and Google boys going at each other's throats :p

IMO it's a very bad move from Apple since replacing the default app will have a negative impact on millions of iOS users over the world.

Hopefully some negative feedback will force them to reconsider some of their worse practises.

Oh I get that but the argument was that Apple are charging way more than, in this case, Samsung for upping the memory when in fact they are quite similar when you compare them.

The battery I agree with for people that really use the phone and don't have access to charging all the time.... Plus it helps to be able to remove it should you drop it down the toilet/into a beer :D

At least it's good for something. That would be one way to get rid of Manu fans.

UPDATE: Apple spokeswoman Trudy Miller issued the following statement to AllThingsD: said:
Customers around the world are upgrading to iOS 6 with over 200 new features including Apple Maps, our first map service. We are excited to offer this service with innovative new features like Flyover, turn by turn navigation, and Siri integration. We launched this new map service knowing it is a major initiative and that we are just getting started with it. Maps is a cloud-based solution and the more people use it, the better it will get. We appreciate all of the customer feedback and are working hard to make the customer experience even better.

Innovative features? Jokers.
