iPad owners upgrading to iPad 2?

One thing I am keeping me eye on is iPad performance in present and future iOS updates. I have a feeling that the iPad could end up in a sitation like the iPhone 3G was, when iOS3 or 4 arrived - losing a ton of performance.

4.3 on my iPad already feels a tad sluggish when opening apps, and unravelling the taskbar. I keep feeling Apple will nerf the device performance wise in order to force people to upgrade.

I haven't decided whether I'm going to get an iPad2 yet. I have a 16GB WiFi one at the moment and I fancy a 3G one.
It will all come down to games and apps for me. 4.3 has made web browsing much better (Look at Boston Big Picture on 4.2 then on 4.3) so my main bugbear with the iPad is fixed.

If it's mostly about the 3G just get a mifi. They cost about £50 and give much better speed than the iPhone 3G. We have one on the three network and just use the £2 per day option as it only gets used a few times a month. When on the train I actually connect my iPhone to it as well as the speed is so much better (than O2 3G anyway). Also good for connecting laptops on the move without dongles etc

tbf the ipad 2 is not that much better, i have had a sneak peak at one of them to hold and i really do not like it. I prefer the Mettel back of my iPad 1. Also ill most likeley wate for the ipad 3 as it is likely to have a bigger screen :D

If you can prove this you have a case. If you can't stop been so damn paranoid ofcourse it's going to get slower with newer firmware as it has new and more functions.

it will be, always, like any OS update, as the hardware moves on. It is not a stationary console, there is now a new ceiling and developers will develop for it.

There is already a precedent in the iPhone to iPhone 4. iPhone and 3G are both not supported anymore and I suspect the iPad will not be too when the iPad 4 comes out, it could be as soon as the iPad 3 is out.

well my 3G went from usable to unusable in one or two iOS updates with no new featureset, so i think he's on the money tbh. They needed to generate interest then, and the need to generate interest now.

I have a mifi already and it's great but I kinda like the all-in-one solution of the iPad 3G.
I don't think I'll bother with the ipad2 now I think hard about it.

£350, came with invisi-shield install on back and side and official apple case.

I was going to sell mine with a apple case, dock, power support screen protector (stuck on PERFECT no bubble), and dodocase for £400...

If £350 is the going rate then i might give it to my parents to use to go online, something they can't break.
