iPhone 2.1 Software

Nothing technically wrong with the phone. If it did what it was supposed to then I'd have no issues. What are these 'so many' problems you speak of?

* I've complained about text/contact lag like everyone else.
* I've lost about a dozen emails because this thing can't decide weather it is connected to the net as described on MacRumours as a BUG.
* I've complained about a crap signal in areas like London.

Oh wow, 3 problems in which almost everyone has complained about. If I've got a dodgy phone, then by your words so does everyone else. I use this phone to keep in touch with suppliers and I am losing business and work time because of it. This iTunes issue is just like text lag that people said they 'weren't getting' - and then it suddenly hit them.

I agree with the buggie phone

But why on earth are you still using it if its costing you time and business?

Il save my opinion for a week as the text lag and contact problem always seem go away for a few days after an update. Everything seems fine so far anyway. This is probably what 2.0 should have been.

My main problem was with MobileMe not pushing emails to my phone but this seems to have more or less fixed itself over the last few weeks so cant complain really.

Easy, because as I've mentioned in the main 3G thread I wanted to see how this update panned out before I would opt for an N96.

Kinda yeah. 2.0 just brought out so many issues it was unreal for those who had experienced the joys of firmware 1.14. Hell I used my Touch as a phoneless PDA more then my old phone and it was superb - I never lost any mails on that thing - well mainly because I was always latching onto unsecured wifi networks.

just updated my 2.02 winpwned + unlocked 2g version to 2.1 and I am impressed. Texting is so much better now, email opens quickly and safari feels more responsive. So far I will give it a thumbs up and my unlock stayed in place. Have lost cydria but I wasn't using that much anyway.

How do you preserve the unlock? Are you on O2? Did you just update using iTunes (i.e. official update) ?

Hey,

Liking the firmware, and you can now finally have your time zone set to london uk and have 12hr clock :D

About time lol

Also no slow down on sms yet either, big bonus.

I'm on T-Mobile. I had a 2.0.2 jaibreak and unlocked phone. Did some reading around and it was apparent that just pressing Upgrade in iTunes 8 would upgrade the software to 2.1, maintaining the unlock, but losing the jailbreak.

Worked a treat. I don't use installer/cydia for anything anyway, so wasn't upset about losing the jailbreak.

I am on Virgin, left the simcard in the phone and used Itunes 8 to update the phone. Ok I lost the jailbreak but I don't really use Cydia and installer. I suspect that Winterboard does slow the phone down at times. So far I am very, very happy with 2.1. The phone is smoother, doesn't lag and seems more stable. It is great to click on a link in an email, safari opens up, opens a new page and loads the link quickly and smoothly using wifi.
10/10 for me.

Anyone else had any luck with QuickPwn? Looks pretty straight forward... I'm tempted but want to see if others have been successful first... I'm still on 1.1.4! :(

I have a winpwned 2.0 iPhone, can I just install the 2.0.2 update directly through iTunes or do I need to winpwn it again?

Update directly, I went straight to 2.0.2 from pwned 2.0.1 and then straight to 2.1 from 2.0.2

Edit: Gah double post, pfft! Hate when people do it so I try not to :( Im tired is my excuse ha ha
