iPhone 2.1 Software

I'm going to cry in a minute. Every time I try and restore the iphone through itunes using the custom 2.0.2 firmware from winpwn 2.5 I get either a 1600, 1602 or 1604 error :(

I've tried reinstalling itunes 8 with the re-release, deleting everything and going back to 7.7.1 and also deleting everything and reinstalling itunes 8 but the same thing keeps happening :(

Guess I'm stuck on 1.1.4 till they update winpwn for 2.1

Unless someone in swindon is willing to help me out? :p

EDIT: ZOMG it finally started restoring with the standard 2.0.2 firmware. Hopefully after that I can restore it with the custom 2.0.2 and then update to 2.1 \o/ here's hoping anyway.

EDIT2: DAMMIT! still get 1602 error when trying to use custom 2.0.2 firmware (on itunes 7.7.1) :( gunna reinstall and try again.

EDIT3: YaaaaY! It did it and I'm now updating to 2.1 :)

New firmware working nicely here, but restoring a backup leaves me with a spinning wheel of doom so I've had to set it up as a new phone.. Very annoying.

Is your phone an unlocked phone? Has it been jail broken? I don't have any keyboard lag when using sms or safari. I often enter text for accessing online banking etc Also have used Safari quite extensively and haven't had a crash yet.
Could it be installed apps causing problems?

quickpwn 2.1 is now available for download. Have had my iphone permanently jailbreaked since I got it, but now I cannot be bothered, cydia/installer is nice but I still think winterboard looks nice but causes problems and slowdowns. So I am keeping my phone unlocked and but not jail-broken.

If I upgraded to 2.1 but didnt uninstall winterboard etc... are those files still on my iphone clogging it all up or does the upgrade wipe it clean and then itunes only restore useable things?

Standard 2.1 with no unlock/pwn. No apps installed at all.

Reception is much better but still most of the underlining problems remain for me. Contacts still seem quick and texting is ok. My main problem - 10 mins use of Safari before the following error message still remains though. This requires me rebooting the phone to fix.

Not good enough though, mine will probably go on ebay tonight.
