iPhone 2.1 Software

Take a printout of the error, and explain that it happens all the time. If you are continuing to have the issue, you have statutory rights, whether they "believe" you or not!

Interesting that it works fine on wireless. Perhaps you have a borked Infineon chipset (the mobile telephony part).... Does it drop calls a lot?

The only thing other than hardware that it could conceivably be is a problem with your O2 web setup? Either way, get a shiny new one first, then complain at O2 if it keeps happening....

Yes il take a printout, good thinking. I do get quite a lot of dropped calls, yes. I knew that was a common problem so never really worried about it. Could somebody post their o2 settings for 3G network just so I can compare but i'm pretty sure it's correct. Thanks for your help.

Can you pwnage/jailbreak a iPhone on contract and still use iTunes and apps as well as not upsetting the phone being on contract?
I have no intention of using pay as you go just the same iPhone contact that I have.

My APN is set to mobile.o2.co.uk username: vertigo password: password

I was thinking more about the setup at O2's end being at fault, but thinking about it now, it'll just be a proxy server username and password, which will either work or it won't. Still reckon it's the phone though! Get that swapped and we'll go from there....

Yep that's the same settings as me. Il take it back tomorrow and will report back. Thanks again.

Well took it back and got a nice brand new shiny replacement as hoped for. It seemed I did have a faulty 3G chip. Excellent service from the Apple store in Bluewater, even gave me a cup of tea! Lets hope this will solve my problems.

Good stuff, lets home you have less issues than before lol. I'm off this week from work so can't properly test out my issues with 2.1 yet. Next week we'll see if my email pains continue.

Guys i'm really stuck trying to jailbreak my new iPhone 2G. I've 2.1 installed and booted up winpwn. Selected iPhone 2G and then next. I then browsed and found the firmware I have installed 2.1 and then nothing happens.
is the first step to be on 2.0.2? I don't understand how it becomes 2.1. I've tried youtube but it doesn't make it obvious if you start on 2.0.2 or 2.1.
If you have to start on 2.0.2 how do you go form 2.1 to 2.0.2/
Thanks

I don't think winpwn works with 2.1? From what I'm aware, there isn't a Windows firmware jailbreaker for 2.1 yet, you have to use pwnage or quickpwn (both Mac). Quickpwn does come in a Windows version, but it hasn't been released yet (I'm waiting for it too).

Sorry to ask a question thats been asked a million times but....

Im on ziphoned 1.1.4 and wouldnt mind updating. Should i download 2.1.0 and wipe my iPhone 2G, then perform the update, then Quickpwn my iphone after ?

Thanks a bunch (i dont really understand all this ziphone, bootloader, pwning stuff)

Noooo phones vibrate stopped working! :(

Cue restore lol!

Edit: Noooooooooooo its still not back.

Bah to it :(

Really ****** off atm, came back and its gone again!

Edit 2: iPhones coming apart. Must be a loose connection or something :/

Edit 3: Wouldn't come apart but some localized tapping means it works again, sweeet.

Edit 4: I've managed to sync the phone with me still being able to use it.
Wonder why apple doesn't allow that anyway

Has anyone got Netshare? I bought it when it was available but have since erased all my apps due to an issue I had. Now I can't get it back as it's not in the store.

I bought it legit and it's really annoying I can't get it back again.

Quickpwn has been released for Windows, so I'm now themed up :)

However, the quiet mode doesn't work anymore - the phone still rings. Pretty rubbish! Will try a fresh restore I think and see if it was the Quickpwn that did it.

I've also got a problem whereby I appear to be using 1.2gb of "other" space, I guess this is apps installed using Installer/Cydia prior to v2. Any tips on getting rid of this wasted data?

lokkers, i think the quiet mode not working is a common thing.

Is quickpwn the tool to use for windows to jailbreak ?

What i want to know is, if i update to 2.1.0, will i HAVE to quickpwn or not ? What does it actually do?

hmmm since updating to 2.1 my 3g signal seems better in places than before but at the same time its far worse. I'm now dropping down to GPRS signals more frequently and if I'm on a phone call for long periods i gradually lose signal until the call disappears... Anybody else suffered from this?

I'm running 1.1.4 on my 2G iphone will I need to upgrade to 2.0.2 first before upgrading to 2.1? I've already unlocked my iphone, by pwning it to 2.1 do I need to unlock it again?
