iPhone 2.1 Software

I really want to upgrade to 2.1 but hearing some people still finding the texting slow compared to 1.1.4 I don't really want to update mine (hugs my 2g 1.1.4 iphone) but I really wanna try Spore Origins and Beatmaker. Decisions decisions.

Do it!

I waited a month to do mine and i am annoyed i didn't upgrade sooner. Upgrade now and reap the rewards! The apps are great!

I have the 64 bit itunes for Vista, but it doesnt install at all. Gets halfway then install says it cannot be completed. Anyone any ideas?

My vista 64 machine keeps blue screening every now and then with either my iPod touch plugged in or itunes open, I'm guessing its the iPod plugged in :-(
I'm sure this will be fun to solve :/

Got a few days off of work guess I will give it a bash at upgrading then. I'm on 1.1.4 so what do I need to do to get 2.1? I need the phone to be still unlocked as I am on Vodafone. Also I'm using Vista, has winpwn come out with 2.1 so I can jailbreak? If so could someone link me to it that be great thanks.

Just a update lad's iTunes 8.0 has had a soft Re-release.

The new version specifically addresses a Blue Screen error when connecting an iPod to a Windows Vista PC as detailed in this Support Article.

The old iTunes 8.0 file size was 64.6mb the new file is 64mb;)

I had a lot of issues when I upgraded to iTunes 8 but not the BSOD one. So I uninstalled and downloaded the newer iTunes and everything was sorted. Screen redraws were quick again and I had no 1-2 second lag when i'd click on my iphone or touch icons on the left of the screen.

It's a shame cydia and installer aren't working with 2.1 yet, would love to do something like this as a theme :D :

Class! He has the same case as me. I've been waiting for a decent stable OS release before I jailbreak. I think this is the one, very happy with it so far.

Right, completely wiped my iPhone 3G hard drive last night then set up a brand new phone profile on the back of a fresh pwned 2.1.0 install. No applications or anything else installed neither.

Still the same problems, all with Safari. The ******* thing crashes near enough every 5 mins, usually whilst I'm in the middle of something time consuming! I still get a lot of text input lag in Safari also whilst the connection error message as per previous post in this thread is still ever present. Battery performance seems worse than 2.0.2 also.

I really should sale my iPhone 3G but I know if it was working perfectly then there's not another phone that would compare. So frustrating.

Agreed, it has to be hardware. I've never once seen that error and I use Safari a lot.

Thinking aloud- Possibly the wireless dropping out mid session, maybe causes the TCP stack to die and Safari to crash?

Anyway take it to an Apple store, show them the issue, say you've wiped it umpteen times, and I'm sure they will hand you another one.

I think I will try and take it into Apple and see what they say as a last throw of the dice. Safari works fine with a wireless connection regarding the error message. It's only caused by 3G / Edge / GPRS. It will still crash like anything regardless though. Will take it back to Apple store tommorow evening and will update. The problem is though that if they will want me to show them an example of the problem then I can guarentee it will work perfectly!

Take a screen shot of the problem next time, and show them it on your iPhone.

(Hold down power + home button for 2 seconds, then release. The image will save to your camera roll)
