*** iPhone 5 - Revealed! ***

Quick question about current 3G contracts for iPhone 5. If say I get an iPhone 5 on O2 contract (3G) will it automatically be able to use 4G? As when I asked the same question in an Orange shop they said it would require an upgrade (money) to get on the 4G network :(

Im on tesco - im hoping if o2 get 4g network my phone will work on 4g...

Otherwise im moving to a 1 month rolling contract with orange!

Does anyone know if 4g in leeds yet?

O2 don't own any 4G frequencies at the moment.

Those up for sale won't be compatible with the iPhone 5, so you can either switch to EE or 3, or wait for the iPhone 5S

Is the iphone good on o2 then? thats what Ive chose, but they do do a 7 day cool off period where I could return everything, money back and go to another network. £26 a month for unlimited txts mins and 1gb data.

Should I stay with the o2 one I got or go elsewhere?

Do you need that level of mins/messages?

I would recommend 3, especially if 1GB and limited mins would suit you. I'm on ultimate 600 (15.90£) and I only upgraded from the sim 300 plan as I regularly go over the 1GB, but hardly ever touch the mins or messages.

I hardly touch the mins, a fair few txts but never unlimited, I use a fair bit of data, but I dont know if its worth the hassle of changing it all and paying more a month for the unlimited data, I pay 26 now but on 3 id be paying 35 ( and they may not have any in stock :( ), I could get a bolt on from o2 for another gig of data for £5 a month. But im just a bit worried about O2 not having the 4g too?

Ok so i finally got one reserved, i wanted a black but the reservation was for a white since i didn't mind it. I've been reading blogs/forums online for the last 3 days so I know about this scuff problem and looking at people's photos made me conscious/scared when getting mine.

Got to the store and paid for it on my card, opened the box there and then. On the right of the screen the silver was raised and jagged... told the bloke that i'm going to need to return this for another..he didn't mind too much and showed a few of his colleagues... He then ordered me another one from stock.

When this came down i unwrapped it again and looked around it, seemed fine, then i turned it over and there was a big dent on the back.... showed him again and he brought a few more colleagues over to look. One of his colleagues stated how he had the same problems with 2 people earlier in the day. So i guess they know about it and one of them was even collecting receipts to report the problem upwards.

They were nice however and offered for me to take the dented phone and said they would replace it when they got more stock. I kindly declined and got my refund as tbh i wanted the black anyway. I'l wait for a few weeks now i guess and hopefully the batches get better. Also one member of staff mentioned how batched 38 and 39 seem to be bad.

I tried one today - and was rather unimpressed vs my Iphone 4

yes did feel quicker, but I didn't feel that screen looked thatmuch better, or that extra screen area was of any use

I was hoping for improved battery life - but that doesn't seem to be the case frominitial reports

so I think I'll stick to what I have - the 4 still doesn't feel slow

I could keep my 4, get an Ipad3 and a Nexus 7 and still be quids in vs getting an Iphone 5 :)

similar here really. Finally tried a friend's today and wasn't that impressed. the shape of the screen looked really ... strange. To me, the screen shape/size just exaggerated how small the text is. Even though I always say the iphone needs a bigger screen, when I think about it, the most restrictive time with the 3.5 inch screen (for me) is when viewing a webpage in landscape, and the height of the page (width of the screen) is too cramped so the new screen wouldn't make this any better. If anything, it would give the illusion that it's worse! The back looked ok but I think the 4/4S looks better. I still can't get over how odd it looks. Even though I own a 4S, If I see a 4/4S on a bar/table etc, I can't help but think what a nice looking phone. The 5 doesn't seem like an apple design to me. It looks as though someone has just modifed an iphone 4 somehow, although granted, that would be very difficult to do but that's what it looks like.

It's strange really, I have to say that iphones are the best phones I've ever owned, but at the same time, I can't quite see the point having another especially when I seem to prefer the look of the 4S. When my upgrade is due at the end of the year, I think it will be the Samsung GS3.

Im loving the screen for webpages as have it locked to portrait mode all the time. Seems to be quite a bit more room

Games like max payne are also nice and smooth

Just the yellow timted screen now, still waiting for the 'glue to set' the screen sort of looks smeared as you can see sort of faint rainbow streaks

the speed is very much noticeable for me in daily use compared with my ip4.

the screen keeps catching me out as my icons have all been in the same place for so long the extra row is catching me out.

The camera is also greatly improved. Went to view a house today and took loads of pictures to show the wife and the quality was very good but when using it the speed of taking pictures seems much quicker.

^^ thanks - I don't doubt they are quicker and yes it felt quicker on the quick play I had

but do I ever feel "held-up" by the 4 ? no - not really - I'm more restricted by the mobile connection than the speed in most cases

initial reports of SQ on headfi are putting me off, I "love" the SQ of the Iphone 4 into my Sennheisers - its absolutely superb - I'd hate the audio output (headphones) to be a downgrade

I disagree

the new phone feels much quicker on my wifi than my 4 did so the connection is the same (100mb virgin media with an Asus dual band router) the only limiting factor there is the ip4 hardware.

As for sound I haven't even tried it for music yet so cannot comment other than the fact i have a pair of dr dre beats thus im usually ridiculed by the audiophiles :P

Wifi have a wireless n chip so ive heard. probably the reason i got 30mb/sec download and 40mb/sec upload at my work when I only got 8mb/sec max on my iphone 4s

Games will only get better too and 4 and 4s will before slower

The 8 pin port will apparently become standard for the next 5 - 10 years - Its cost Apple a LOT of money to change from the analogue 30 pin port to digital 8 pin. Adapters are £25 because they are effectively a DAC

Quality should be much better on digital accessories than ones at the moment (in time)

You've just reminded me! What does DAC mean/stand for?

At the moment I got the iphone 5 on O2, got it on the 21st from carphone warehouse and has a 7 day cool off period, they said I could just return everything and get a full refund and cancel the contract if I wasnt happy. If I wanted to say change to t mobile for a contract could I just pop in store and explain this, keep the iphone 5 I have on o2 and they just change the network and contract over to t mobile? Thus not having to hand the phone back over and go elsewhere....

ok thats fair enough - I don't use mine really at home though - thats what the PC and tablets are for

but outside of the house - at hotels, on way to work etc - I feel more limited by 3G speed and reception than I do with the speed of the processing of the phone

if that makes sense

My 3g is definately (or seems it) quicker than it was before. Maybe its just in my head

Is everyone elses screen warmer (yellowish) than the 4 /4s? A guy at works 4s almost looked cool, blue even next to my ip5
