*** iPhone 5 - Revealed! ***

I'm wondering if once the demand dies down, if the quality will improve when the guys at Foxconn have less demanding targets to meet.

i.e they'll be able to leave the chassis bodies in the anodising tanks for longer, or less handling errors will occur resulting in less chips etc.
 
My iP5 on its way to be returned :(. Hopefully its just the first few batches that had this issue...

Doubtful as unless its a worldwide launch other countries will still be expecting their launches over the next few weeks. Im gonna give it a month at least before I buy it again in hope. Hopefully people that pick them up still mention here if they get a dodgy one - it does seem to be a minority issue though...

An hour ago I put my iphone 5 in my pocket with coins without thinking first time ive done it since i got it as i been careful when i remember i though ohhhh Cr*P pulled out the iphone with a panic inspect the phone and WOW not a mark hmmmm confuse..

I'm doing the same, returning for a refund for now and using my 4s. I'll see what happens over the next month especially with the new WP8's being out by then as well.

Aye, I expect there to be a fair few phones still sitting about in Foxconn warehouses waiting to be shipped that will fall foul of the aforementioned manufacturing defects so it'll be a while to come if it happens.

If the above is indeed the truth, you'll be playing roulette for a while to come. :(

Personally I'll be waiting for a fair few months before committing, and I won't be getting a white one just to be sure!

Or just wait for the inevitable sales pitch on the "more durable, scratch resistant" iPhone 5S... /cynical mode off
 
What i cant understand is are you guys returning your phones as you got damage and marks on them already... Or just worried it will happen in the near future after seeing what happens.

Me and 11 of us got perfect iphone 5 with no marks at all.. I though I marked my badly earlier but it just as i got it from day one no marks at all

Yeah Im going back to my iP4 which is more than usable and has working maps ;). It took me a while to make the decision but ultimately I dont trust the current anodising treatment and even with a perfect phone its unlikely to be anything like that at the end of ownership however well you look after it.

Far point, maybe its a hopeful month wait - perhaps Ill do the sensible thing and just get the next one in a years time. Shame I really liked the upgrade, just unacceptable that general wear and tear could actually damage the phone rather than a drop or something more obvious...

Am I the only one really pleased with the iPhone 5? I mean its awesome, noticeable improvements with the RAM, CPU, Wireless, Battery. This coupled with the fact it's so light and feels good in the hand - an all round satisfying purchase for me - well worth the upgrade.

My only gripe is I wish the devs of my favourite apps would hurry up and update them to utilise the screen size.

Maybe cos I got the white I'm enjoying it for what it is and not fretting about cosmetics.

Mine a black and I feel the same as you it the best phone I've had. The 4s I change 5 times. This first time I never had to return an iPhone
 
I am also very impressed. I got a white 16gb version and its a considerable improvement from my iphone 4. Didn't fully appreciate how **** my 4 was until I got this.

I am same as yourself! but as always, really only ever hear of the bad things!

Mine is stunning and is a great upgrade from my 4s and wow its fast on EE! Love it really do.

Im very impressed with mine.

So far ive got this on the battery

that's using text, phone, internet, downloading apps, listening to music. 36% left which isn't to bad and it should improve after a few cycles.

Also impressed with threes 3g, did a speed test earlier and got 16 down and 3 up. that's not far from my home broadband.
 
Just a quick update back on my battery issue - I found the problem.

When restoring onto the new phone my SMTP settings somehow got corrupted. The phone was trying (unsuccessfully) to send a 2mb e-mail all day. I picked up on it first thing this morning when I tried to send a new e-mail and it failed. Fixed the SMTP settings - job done.

Pretty much the same day as yesterday - radio streaming, Facebook, Twitter, texting etc, and I'm now on 42%. Yesterday I was on 6%.

Still not quite what I'm looking for, but at least now it is lasting a full day and I've sufficient confidence that it will improve a bit as it settles down.

Mine was down for delivery on the 1st October but I got it this Monday - I wouldn't mind betting you could expect yours for delivery next Monday also :p

If not, you could always cancel, reserve one in a store and go pick it up...
