*** iPhone 5 - Revealed! ***

There are only pins on the bottom according to who leaked the pictures, but the opening is symmetrical like you say and the male part of the equation has contacts on both sides, which indicates it'll work inserted either way.

Yeah that was the reason why I thought it wouldn't work either way. However, I didn't think about the cable :p

The cable might have connections on both sides, meaning it can be entered in either way :) I hope that is the case...

One thing on these new dock connector parts is that there isn't a small metallic ring around (Which suggested to me some sort of magnetic lock, as per MagSafe)

1. If you re-read my original post I was talking about the 4/4s Vs the Galaxy S2. It was done by the same people as in the video above. And in every video i have seen the Galaxy S2 just didn't break, at all! And i also never seens smashed S2. The S3 is a different matter as it uses a different gorilla glass then the S2. Which i already had concerns about as it was made thinner but not stronger. Now the S3 is as fraglie as the 4/4s.

2. I think im right that sales of the Samsung phones were on par with the iphone now. Were i work in a room of about 30 people, 5 has S2's (including me), 3 have S3's and two have the Note. About 6 have the Iphone and the rest have various HTC's. Traveling around in central london on avarage i'd say there are at least as many if not more andriod phones as there are iPhones.

The S3 smashing in that video is irrelevant. The 4S didn't smash and that's what we're talking about. It only did after being repeatedly dropped.

The S2 screen can smash fairly easily, the S2 (and high end Samsung) sales figures are not even remotely close to 4/4S either. I've seen them smashed, just because you haven't seen a damaged screen doesn't mean they can't break. :o

I'm not saying the 4/4S are more durable, they aren't, but screens breaking is mostly down to luck. Something people often struggle to accept... oddly.

Toughened glass is most susceptible to breakage due to damage to the edge of the glass where tensile stress is the greatest.
Most new phones have this exposed/curved glass edge to give that smooth feel/look but it increases the probably of shattering significantly when dropped.

Something to watch out for :)

Just reading the above post about smashing. I dropped my S3 a few weeks back. Didnt notice until I got home, but the screen was blank and wouldnt respond to touch.

First time I've had a phone break on me. It did land on the corner, on concrete. Only a very small scratch on the corner of the phone.

Disappointed to say the least.

Lucky still had my iPhone 4.

How about adding in an improved GPS to give a level of accuracy more akin to the likes of devices from companies such as Garmin.

I'm not 100%, but from my experience the Iphone GPS is accurate on a good reception to +/- 10 metres, and is totally crap in measuring elevation.

all u think that apple will do same 4/4s design for next iphone? hahaha

i am 100 sure they will call it new iPhone
Like they called the iPad the new iPad?

They called it the iPad 3 (it even says so when you purchase it) and they were saying it's the NEW one.

There is a limit on the accuracy of consumer GPS and to get better elevation accuracy a barometric sensor would have to be added instead of relying on the strength of the GPS signal to determine height.

Not the same design, no, but not that much different either.

At this point I'd put money on it looking like the leaks.

I was looking to upgrading my iPhone 4 to the 5, expecting a larger screen. But hearing that Apple are just going to make it longer is very disappointing. A friend has the S3 and I find the screen amazing. Better for browsing and movies etc.

Just not sure what to do as I both my wife and I own a ton of Apple apps and I don't fancy buying apps I already own again for a different platform. On the other hand quite fancy having Siri at last.
Im a lost iPhone user, will probably get the 5, but it won't be an instant purchase, I'm going to wait and see if it's really worth the upgrade this time. I feel that Apple are slowing down and running out of new and unique features to add to new models.
