I picked mine up from Carphone Warehouse in St Albans, I got there about 15 minutes before they opened and was 3rd in the queue. Took a while to get sorted as they were having problems with their tills. Really impressed. I was very much in two minds about this, but really pleased now I have it :)

Had the same problem at CPW in Marlow, none of the electronic credit/debit card authorisations would work so they had to go back to the old school mechanical swipers that imprint the details on paper!

Well, I've downgraded to 1.1.1 on a UK bought iPhone. So its working as an iPod touch at the moment.

Because AnySim1.2 simply wont work yet. Still, should have a fully functioning jailbroken UK iPhone by the end of the weekend the way things are progressing!

My iPhone is no more, i returned it for a full refund.

I was thinking 18 months is too long and £35 is too much, i also don't talk on the phone that much.

Going to buy another in a month or two and unlock it and get a cheap £15 orange contract.

I was the first person to return an iPhone! WOOt!

I asked my parents if they would pay for the contract before i bought it and they said maybe but once i had it they said no, once i returned it they said yes! HAHA!!

Doesn't matter now, didn't like being £269 out of pocket at this moment in time.

When i was returning the phone i asked if this cancels the O2 contract and the guy said yes, is he right, i think he was just saying yes to anything i said basically.

Hope everyone else has fun, i'll get another next month! What other provider uses edge? Does orange?

I really wonder why someone would want to jailbreak a UK iphone and pay through the 18 months contract.

US phones are bought SEPARATELY from apple and THEN contracted under AT&T.

UK phones are bough TOGETHER with a contract.

I'll give the iPhone a look when it's viewed as a normal handset rather than one that requires you to connect it to iTunes every time you swap the SIM (what's with that anyway?). And when it doesn't require it's own special tariff. I'm on O2 Simplicity with the web bolt on which gives me 200 minutes, 400 texts and 200mb web for £22.50, and I'm not locked in for more than a month. Suits me fine to be honest, maybe there will be a time when I need my iPod and phone in one device but that time isn't now.

Except you dont sign any contract when you buy it?

They're bought in the same way as in the US, you buy the phone from wherever and then sign up for the o2 contract through itunes.

From what ive seen there is no mention of a contract before you actually buy it and so you're not tied in unless you activate it.

If true, then very good to hear. It is another ordinary sim free phone then, as it will keep getting cracked hours after each update.

They're both the same for UK and US, you buy the phone separately, then set up the contract through iTunes.

This is wrong - they're both bought in the same way. You can walk into an Apple store and pick up one without signing anything.
