Because not everyone has email on their phones?

In the same way half the people I know with picture / camera phones can't recieve messages without going to a web link anyway, or just as bad the file itself isn't compatible with one or the other...

Or...
get yourself into the 21st century and get a phone with email then. :p :D

That's fair enough, I can cope with that. I only have a problem when people start saying it's useless because it's missing features. I DON'T WANT 3G !
Exactly, why would you want 3G when there is little coverage for that out there.
EDGE or "2.75G" is much more available in non urban areas.

Besides that point the way forward isn't 3G anyway..
It's WiFi and it's got it !!
99% of people in my opinion will have or will have nearby ;) a hotspot that can be accessed and you can then wipe the floor with all the 3G phones..

2.75G isn't suicidally slow speed for when you're out in the field so to speak, so what's the fuss..
Typical UK I think... something to whinge about. :D

Yep some of this stuff reminds of how Audi Cars got a poor rating in USA because it didn't have cup holders that could take a super size mcdonalds cola.:p

So far the things I would want 3G for such as Web I find the screen a bit small still even with the zoom and scroll. I can still do what I need on it, and there is good wifi coverage from the cloud where I go so not a problem. I personally would have liked to have seen an ActivSync client on there so could synch email with my exchange account properly on the road. IMAP just doesn't cut it. However Apple have aimed at the consumer/fashion market not the business market so I don't feel that the 3G is a big deal either. However I believe that 3G will come with iPhone2 when they can get the battery life.

What is everyones EDGE coverage like? I have none at home and when I went into Wolverhampton last night I got none there either even though I am told that O2 have upgraded the cell tower to support it.

Well guys, I just got back from visiting my brother in Milton Keynes!

Went into London on Friday, spent most of afternoon walking around with my mum!

We went around 4pm to the Apple store on Regent Street, had a chat with the stewards, asked where the queue was etc. By this point quite a few people were already camped out there. Including TheCould people who were first.

Mostly young lads etc, students dare I say. :p

Anyway, this kinda steward said to me to come back around 5-530pm and I'll bw let into the queue. Did exactly what he said and at 515pm got in behind the people who had been there since the night before / early morning!!!!!!!!!

:D Was well cheeky but if you cant get a bit of sympathy being in a wheelchair what can you get? ;)

Roughly about the 10-11th person to hit the store when it opened, with all the staff cheering and clapping, give me and the rest high fives!

Went upstairs and was escorted to a checkout to purchase my iPhone!

All-in-all what a great evening, great atmosphere and again, my second Launch Party in as many weeks (Leopard in Trafford Centre).

Was funny when I left the store, LOADS of cameras went off and a few guys with video-cams nelt down to capture me with my iphone bag.:o

Will update with video shortly, and pictures too!

I really hated the "Got It" bag you got when you bought from O2. I felt like a right tard. I folded it round on itself in plain view of everyone while bussin a screwface.

You got back into the queue as there was hardly any queue! Everyone was going to get phones - so why did people queue!? Why did peopel queue at the apple store when there are 5 carphonewarehouse/o2 shops nearby with not one queue! I went there at 1pm (lunchtime) there were 8 people and more cameras than people queuing - then at 6:30 - there was no queue (ie everyone had been served) and the majority of people there were apple staff/press! Yes there were browsers in the shop but not a huge amount more than a usual 6:30 on Regent street.

edit - Just read this article about the iphone launch and tumbleweeds - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/11/11/iphone_uk_flop/

I went to the Apple Store yesterday (Southampton) - boy was that packed with little kids messing around on the iPhones; I honestly didn't take much interest, as I've already got my iPod Touch and the iPhone (without MMS) is useless to me - and too expensive overall.

I do however like the stand/dock they provide with the iPhone tho :)

/off topic
I also never realised 24" iMac is so damn big! Seeing it in person was so different to pictures.
