FYI: Rename any .m4a file to .m4r and you've got yourself a free ringtone that can be synced to the iPhone

It will show up in iTunes by simply double-clicking the file itself :cool:

Remember;

m4a = audio
m4r = ringtone

That is all.

I would like to thank everyone who bought iPhones for funding O2's EDGE upgrades, now my 6300 with Opera Mini is a lot quicker :D

Surprised the unlock isn't out already. It didn't take the 1st one that long at all. You'd think by now they would have some base on the product.

The first one was also easier, as the phone gets updated they patch the holes, so the teams need to find a new hole to get in through.

I've seen one or two people have managed to unlock UK iPhones, but it's extremely complicated and a bit dodgy, probably better to wait for another week for them to work out how to hack it in a decent way. Won't be long now :)

Thing is when I add one of these to my cart on o2, it does not require to add a contract to the item. I can order it for £269 without the contract, which means I could just unlock it and put my existing sim in. I might order one just to see what happenes.

Or you could go to an o2 store and do the same.

Can't believe people STILL can't get their head round the fact you don't get made to take out a contract to get one.

EDIT to clarify for the slow amongst us, despite it being covered Christ knows how many times......

Someone mentioned they had a problem activating their iPhone?

I've been typing my details correctly, and god knows i've tried time and time again with no success. I even tried creating a new Apple ID and it said the account-creation service was unavailable :mad:

What did you do, did you have to wait it out?

Just tried doing yours now VaderDSL did you?

What it is, I scratched my iPhone so I took it back.. anyway, got new my baby home, popped in my original SIM and proceeded to activate, thus the problem.

I know it's nothing to do with the method (I did the same with a mates and it activated fine), so it might be Apple-end thing :(

Yes, you can, the flaw is that the unlock process is currently difficult and unreliable. Even if it seemed perfect there's always the risk that Apple could disable it with an update, and in any case at all you can't use special features like visual voicemail.

Same. What a beaut.

I've only ever had a horrible nokia and a K750i and I cannot believ how nice this iphone is, the £0 price tag helped ;) i've used them in store but with all my music and photos on it is magnificent, I use ical loads as well and it just is lovely!

I'm struggling to form coherent sentences now due to me being over excited hehe :D

So why not get a 12 month sim only contract and stick it in there for it would be cheaper. or even an o2 PAYG if you wanted that?
