Err, are you trying to be a bit slow or what?

You DO NOT take out any form of contract when you buy the phone. All the sign-up process is done through itunes when you get the thing home. So, as I've just said, you don't NEED to take any contract out to get hold of one. Whether you can use it properly is a different thing.

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr no? I don't own any apple products so stop banging ya gums! So this could be used as as payg phone then? Has anybody got a payg o2 simcard to try it?

Was doing a bit of quiet electrical work the last two days, doing a bit of shop fitting and I've had this thing sat on the counter top banging out the tunes through it's own speakers ALL day on a full charge.
Pretty chuffed with that, thought it was only going to last til lunch time but it did the full 8 hrs.

No!

You buy the phone. To use it as a phone you must sign up to a o2 18month contract via itunes.

The phone is locked to this carrier only and only in iTunes can you set up your phone.

Maybe someone will hack it to make it work on pay as you go but thats something else.

£269 buys you a handset.

Ah ha, found said store folder and first one I clicked on was a .m4p

Investigating further....

m4p is a protected AAC file, you need to do it on an normal AAC file iirc.

Outside of iTunes, as you need to change the extension.

Edit: This is an edit, it can be done by using the edit button. It is good because it allows you to place text in an already posted post, and without creating two new ones.

went in through windows folders, copied, pasted then renamed second file "ring plus rest of file name and saved the m4a file as a m4r..

Nothing in ipod menu of that name nor anything in settings >ringtones

Does however show up on the iTunes pc screen under ringtones menu.

No warnings this time about not being copied though.

In fact, original file has now gone off the phone

cannot import as it doesn't appear to be a valid exported file ????

I think I'll just stick to the ringtones given....
