No, maybe you wouldn't want to be told that you have new messages but also not want to delete them, hence mark as read. It's a basic feature that email clients have had since the dawn of time.

I was in one of the CPW in Bluewater the other day, and was told by two different sales guys there that O2 were willing to buy out contracts for customers who were not on O2 (and had time remaining on their existing contracts with other providers).

That's rubbish, right? Else, I'm on vodafone with about 10 months of an 18 month contract to go, and I might be interested.

Seems too good to be true, so I still think it must be a lie/misunderstanding of O2 buying out existing O2 contracts.

I believe its not O2 buying out the contract (despite what they may have told you), its CPW, P4U offered to do the same for me, although i laughed it off after telling him my contract only had a week to run.

Well I took a dive and bought an iPhone, but went for one from USA imported one with v1.1.1, since there's problems with unlocking the new UK iPhones (it will probably be hacked but may be quite a while). Cost me £50 above UK retail, hope it's worth it!

I bought mine from the states 5/6 weeks ago now, first had it with 1.0.1 firmware, then updated to 1.0.2 unlocked it myself on that, now updated to 1.1.1 and unlocked again.

1.1.2 is now out, few fixes on it etc.

Im happy with the phone its self, there are quite a few things that let it down, im not going to read threw all 19 pages of this thread but to summerize im disapointed the fact it doesnt have:

MMS
Camere Settings / Record abilitys
Cant send via Bluetooth
3G or HSDPA would be nice.

Other then tht nice bit of gear

Nice tip..

Run you finger from left to right on an email/message and it will ask you if you want to delete :)

yeah it will take any bluetooth headset..... not stereo headphones tho ( why not i do not know )

Doesnt work for me?

Anyway, ANOTHER question...

Does/Will the iPhone work with Bluetooth Headphones, if it accepts headsets?

In the preview screen.. not on the actual message ;)

Yes, it works with Bluetooth headsets, why wouldn't it?

Stereo bluetooth has been crippled by Apple intentionally, why is anyone's guess.

Got my iPhone :D absolutely love it, still trying to sort out itunes to upload some music. Typing this from my iPhone, the keyboard is very sensitive but suprisingly easy to use! Don't think it can do hotmail, apart from the website. Might set up a gmail account just so i can get my email on here :)

I'd be tempted to go for it if they bought out my 3 contract!

Got my iPhone yesterday and so far very happy with it, had a crash when clicking "Done" before a video had loaded on YouTube and frantically found out how to reset it (mashed buttons on the side/top...:p)

Only thing's i'd like to know:

  • Can you remove apps from the "Home" screen. For example the stocks one?
  • Has anyone managed to get their "Other" IMAP accout working via Mail? I have an email account hosted with Register1, and no matter what SMTP servers i try it always hangs for a few minutes then says "SMTP Authentication Error". Thats while using either EDGE or WiFi and trying my Register1 SMTP server, my ISP SMTP server, the O2 SMTP server...

Thats about all my questions, can anyone help?

Edit: Dont worry about the mail one, for some reason i had to keep clicking "Yes" to the "Continue without SSL" message FOUR times before it worked! Never mind, s'all good now :)

Guys

Does anyone know if Carphone warehouse offer the usual 14 day return period on the iPhone?

The novelty has worn off now and I'm starting to think that I'll just wait til the second revision when it's a bit more refined for use over here
