iRacing

What kind of specs are the rigs you guys are using? I'm itching to play, but don't think my current (massively outdated) machine would handle it:

AMD X2 4400+
7900GTX
2Gb RAM
Logitch momo

Would that be enough to even run a decent framerate at low settings?

You are not going to have mind blowing performance but drop shadows off limit the amount of cars on grid you can render. Knock a few settings down.

Make sure CROWDS are on LOW.... Even us high end Iracers do this waste of a of of performance. Theres some new settings also to help low end and high end rig. Once you have some settings post them up with your performance and we will help try get as much as possible out of your setup.

Hope that helps

Here you go.

3930k water cooled to 4.8Ghz
32GB RAM
AMD 7990 GPU OC on air
Asus IPS + 2 sides at 1080 with SoftTH
G25 wheels and pedal with Bodnar cable
iPad with iSpeed

Soon to add a slave VGA GPU for and additional map / timing screen setup.

Everything on max settings, 100+ FPS

Normally I move the screens closer and they are about 10 inches from the wheel and wrapped around more

Just managed to get my safety rating up over 3 so should be getting promoted tonight :)

It was on 2.7 so I did a race, 2 off tracks and went up 0.15, another race went up 0.1, some qualifying up 0.02, 4 laps of time trial went up 0.45  so now at a sr of 3.43 lol

Was going round slowly in rookie avoidance mode to finish off raising the sr and still finished a few places up the grid :D

What some bad racing tonight. 2nd on grid, from the off the inside car on formation is pushing me into the wall. On the green he forces me deliberately against the wall and causes a 10 car pile up and then quits.

Grrrr, some right tools on spoiling it for everyone.

It was totally deliberate, saw him angle at me and wedge me in. No where to go as at the front of the pack.

That wasn't me! Honest!

I managed to get some practice in this morning. It was odd. No one about and then towards the end of the session about 6 off EU boys joined and I finished 5th. lol. Ah well.

Cars don't half seem more twicthy than the last time I played it. I blame my kit. I have an old Wingman Formula Force GP that only has about 200 degs of rotation.

LOL ;) It was the last race at 10pm UK time when it happened. I just think this guy found himself on the front row and wanted to follow the green racing line, which of course puts him straight into the 2nd row on the 1st corner which was where I was. Thought about putting in a complaint, but I can't really see the point for all the effort it would take.

But then if you don't put in the protest then what's stopping him from doing it again and again, one of the best bits of iRacing is the 'system' that tries to enforce clean racing, but it relies on people actually protesting...

It's unlikely he'd get a ban for it, and arguably shouldn't, but he should maybe get a note to say "that was just dumb, don't do it again" :p

Usually they need you to supply a replay, although it's not necessary. They can also get chat and voice logs from the servers I believe. They can impose both suspensions and complete bans, but those are fairly rare afaik.

Ok, I really havent a clue what I am doing on their website with regards to joining a series.

I was thinking of joining the "iRacing Street Stock Series - 2013 Season 2C Fixed" and some how managed to join a TT session and did 10 laps without pranging it, which was good, however I can see where I can register for a race, but not qualifying? Do you have to register for a race first and then you can do the quali?
