iRacing

wow racing the radical again and 1st corner the whole grid came to a halt and most crashed after some muppets not know how to drive, i was more or less stopped still and 2 peeps went into the back of me...

worst start to a race ive seen yet...

I'd imagine that due to the Radical getting the new tyre model last week a lot of people have jumped on it without bothering learning to drive the car first.

That sounds mental, sounds more like the "cole trickles" on ovals...

The top splits do appear to be much better, heard a couple of people come on voice chat, and saw the remnants of one coming together, but nothing like that

Conversely I just did a race, another 0 incidents, although one crazy moment where a back marker hit the outside barrier at the top of the esses, I went up watching him but thinking he'd stay on the outside but he came back across, I swear there was about an inch clearance, thought I was gonna ruin my 'perfect' record :p

Now I need to practice my starts a bit and start one from the grid for a change, see if I can't see some of this carnage you get :p

Well, that was a bit more like you're seeing Graveyard :p

Guy on the inside at the start loses it and spears into the car a couple ahead of me, I slow right down and eventually stop, did get a 0x tap but that was it, the rest of the field not so good, 4 guys didn't complete a lap, and by the end of the race only 6 guys even close to the lead lap (guy in 6th was less than a second behind me in 4th going into the last lap but then ran out of fuel, somehow managed to go a lap down)

Still, for me it was a good race, started in 16th cause I've still not qualified, worked my way up and with to 3rd with a few drop outs but me and an italian were pushing each other for most of the race, a good 5-7 laps of really close racing but the rest of it was either behind and ahead and trying to lap quicker to get/stay ahead, was really fun :) And yet another 0 inc race, which is shocking for me, should've had at least a few off-tracks and 1 spin by now :p

yeah that sound like the races I'm having skill, they always turn out good races tho...

the one I had before with the massive pile up of first corner I was stone dead last after been rammed twice but battled back to 7th with some great close racing when I was fighting to get 7th...

it's all part of racing I guess and this is as near to real as we can get with a game/sim...

Yeah, the good bits far outweigh the bad, and I sometimes need to remind myself that we're not real race drivers, some of us at least partially because we're not good enough to be. And stuffing it into the wall at the exit of the last corner, when running 2nd in a train of 6 cars, luckily not collecting anyone else, is a perfect way to remind myself of that :p

So yeah, 3 clean races followed by one not so clean (4 incs, 2 off-tracks and a contact), not bad but I was hoping to get a few more clean ones :p

that's not what just happened got rammed off on the long straight by some clown behind me not knowing the logic in drafting, 8 mins in pits came out car was horrible round right hand bends so i spun loads of times on first corner...

Yep, I'm Joshua Harley :)

What lap was you're incident, I couldn't find it on the replay, there was a bit around lap 12 where both you and the guy behind (red car?) dissapeared from my replay?

But the main thing I thought I'd mention (I semi-recognised your name from the RF2 practice) was your use of the f-word, whilst I personally don't really mind it is against the sporting code both writing/speaking swearwords and if someone takes offense you can be protested and I've heard they don't take a particularly nice view of it (bit like here really), just thought I'd warn you :)

ah cool yeah its was a red car but i cant remember the lap,i was moving over for him aswell...

yeah id guessed as much with the swearing, its a bad habit of mine i dont even realize im doing it.

i never swore directly at some one tho it was more in general terms like "my car is *£$%^& anyway"...

how do you protest or report someone???

sorry if i offended you...

As I said, not offended in the slightest, and yeah it was all just used in general and even when you were taken out you didn't go off on one at the guy, but thought it was worth mentioning as there are always righteous people who will take offense.

The protest stuff is in section 8 of the sporting code, basically there's a template in there for an email, generally they want a replay for driving based stuff, screenshots for chat and the audio is stored on the servers for a period I believe.

ah right cool, you have to be a pretty sad person to report someone tho IMO.

maybe if you were taken out in some proper important race then yeah...

whats your views on the radical now youve had a few races???

sent you a friends request BTW...

The protest system, although some dubious results, is one of the best features of iRacing, the whole point of the online system, with the SR, and the sporting code is to enforce good driving. I think if there's an obvious intentional wreck then it should be protested, as well as overly abusive text/chat (eg not what you're doing, but if you go off on one at someone).

But then you need to be sure, in the last 3.5 years or so I've protested 3 people, all for intentional wrecks, there was one other where I felt he dumped me on purpose (oval race, 'bump and run') but it was too close to call between that an intentional wrecking.

In most cases I'm not looking for a ban or anything, just a message that might in future make them be a bit more reasonable/cool headed, that's all I ask. I don't mind an aggressive driver, but I do get very annoyed with intentional wrecking.

Anyway, the Radical, still really enjoying it, and to the point now where I can comfortably lap at a decent pace without making many mistakes, I think it's a bit odd at times but overall great fun, think that was my 4th race and tempted to do the 1:30 one as well, definitely gonna do a complete season :)

yeah id defo report some one if they out and out wrecked me for no apparent reason.

ill be doing the season aswell, love this car...im going to turn all thew shift aids off and see if i can get down from the 1.05.9 lap time as thats my PB and i just cant get it down...

Tempted to sign up for this with the 3 for 1 offer. Are the cars and tracks included with the basic package enough to feel involved? A little put off by having to pay for extra tracks though, shame Brands isn't included.

Yeah, you get the rookie content free basically, so iirc there's 4 road tracks (plus a couple of roval layouts at Charlotte) and a few ovals as well. And 3 road course cars/2 oval cars, so it's not that bad.
