iRacing

I'm not sure if auto blip gives you a penalty, but with the majority of iRacing cars you can just left foot brake and manually blip the throttle, gives you more control too. Only a couple of cars need the clutch and heel-toeing, but it's worth it.

Leaving throttle on all the time when braking is a sim racing technique, I don't like it.

let the revs drop a little before the downshift and give a little blip on the gas this is what i do in the lotus though ive not driven the Radical id think the same thing would work.

You can brake very late if you dont lock the brakes and then you trail the brake all the way around to the apex of the corner lifting the brake pressure gently off as you turn keeping on just enought pressure so they dont lock.

I also leave a little gas on with the brake to help steady the car.

Watch some fast lap replays so you can see how the pedals are being used.

The secret to a fast lap is exit speed from the apex so aslong as the car is on the correct possition right on the apex and you get the power down hard and fast the laps with always be quick late braking is the icing on the cake if you can do it but its exit speed where the speed is.

Not driven the Lotus in a looooong time, but it was far easier than the Radical to do, as is the Skippy and Late Model. The Radical you really need to be completely off throttle and semi-low revs to shift, fairly easy really but still catches me out as I'm used to the Skippy.

I don't know if you have to have auto clutch on when using auto blip, but I only have auto blip checked...

I thought you did but could be wrong, also as below I use left foot braking exclusively, not sure if you are or not but it's far more awkward to manually blip if you're not :p

Don't make me break out the Schumi Vs Barrichello throttle/brake traces :p

i dont get the irating points.

i just raced in the grand touring cup, i left the track once and what they call lost control, but i had a great race i came 7th from starting 13th some great over takes all clean racing but i got +13 SR but -27 IR???

was a great race aswell...

Guessing there were 15/16 drivers in the field? it's literally whether you're in the top or bottom half that determines irating gain/loss, and the size of that gain/loss is related to how far from the mid-pack you are (eg race winner always gains the most irating, even if he was rated #1 already)

nah there was 20 0dd in the race mate iirc...

think its because it was jetta mx5 and pontiac race and i came in the lower half of the jettas...

What was your car number, that is the number your expected finish at to gain irating. The fact that you gained sr and lost ir doesn't mean anything as they're not related.

BTDC was fun.

i got a stop and go on the first race for jumping start, so was battling from the get go..

2nd race was great fun some proper good little battles, still came way down the grid as i started 23 because of my daft jump start in first race.

3rd race i got rammed off on the 4th lap, started from 5th on grid from my quali time but came 20th from getting rammed off...

great fun tho i enjoyed it.

the host messed up the 3rd race and put a quali on it rather than grid order from the finishing positions of the last race, Jesus a few of the lads kicked up a fuss about it, they think its real racing and they forget the lad who hosted was kind enough to set it all up for us.

Is there an AA type group we can go to?

"Hi, may name is Gimpymoo....."

Will probably order a pair next month and post a review.

Each pair are custom made to your foot size/shape and type of pedals you use.

Schumacher doesn't count :p

that cant be right, i was car number 23 and i finished 7th an i got -18 IR...

In the multi-class races it's 3 different races going on at the same time, only the other Jetta's count to your IR gain/loss, the MX5's don't.

I understand that mate but I came mid place of the jettas.

I'm not fussed about it ATM while I'm still learning, it gives me a challenge to get it back up to a respectable level later on, aslong as I don't drop down post below C class I'll be happy...

It's much more complicated then car number unfortunately. AFAIK it's based on your iRating vs SOF. A VERY rough rule is that if you finish in the top half of the pack you should gain iRating. It depends on the SOF though. If you're iRating is high compared to the SOF you'll have to finish higher to gain iR.

I mean I finished 11th as car number 3 in my last truck race and I only lost 5 iR. I would have gained iR if I'd have made it to 10th. This was in a field of 18.
