I have pedals again!

I'm still fine tuning the adjustments to my liking, but I'm 90% of the way there now!

My Obutto is holding up well, only giving some flex upwards of 90% braking force. Longer term I have some plans to re fabricate the pedal tray and add a heel rest as even with the pedal faces at the lowest setting I'm just a bit lower than I'd like to be.

The difference is amazing, coming from Fanatex CSP V2's it really is night and day. The clutch feels real and the throttle is far easier to modulate but the brake is the real star of the show. The CSP's are probably easier to drive straight out of the box as I feel like I'm learning to brake again now, the difference in force is huge, but not uncomfortable.

More thoughts when I'm used to them.

Yes, the Pro version.

I've been without pedals for about 6 weeks now but I ordered last week and they came today. I think they intend to have the Pro's in stock all the time now.

Yea, the guys who designed/made these are very talented!

You can't see from that shot but the controller mounts the the underside of the pedal tray and the wires loop through a hole at the rear of the plate.

I use a Fanatec Clubsport V1 with the Porsche rim.

Nearly at B licence in Ovals, the indycar is just awesome to drive. You can feel the immense grip of it throughout the corners..

Trucks, meh! Thought I would like them, but just can't get the feeling of them...

I might give the ovals a go next season. Got up D and chose poorly to get to C and couldn't be bothered with short ovals.

Had two wreck fests in GT3. One incident involved me slowing down for a yellow flag and trying to get by three tangled cars when I get rammed from behind. It wasn't as if he was following close, he was 1.5 seconds behind before the yellow flag. What made it worse was I was completely wrecked and he carried on racing.

I've had a bit of time to get used to the new pedals now. Mounted directly to the Obutto pedal tray I was finding it impossible to be competitive due to inconsistency due to flex/movement of the pedal plate (never had a problem with the CSP v2's) so I've embarked on splicing some 8020 aluminium into the pedal area, and what a difference it's made!

I can't get over how rock solid this stuff is, I can now brake to 100% of the pedals capabilities and consistency is back where it should be. I'm just waiting for some straight base plate brackets from HE but to be honest, having them tilted back 45 degrees is not too bad as the base plate acts like a heel rest now and I could just adjust the rear of each pedal to be lifted.

I'm now on the look out for plans to make a full rig out of 8020, looking to the future I want to build an OSW and I don't think an Obutto would handle that without a lot of vibration.

Got a past members survey come through today via email. I thought I would reply. The last item was, "what change to the service would you most likely to see?", or something of that ilk.

I can hope and pray, but because I just don't get enough time to play due to parenting, I would love the ability to add credit and then be able to Pay As You Go meaning that your subscription doesn't expire, and you have funds, but the funds drop as you take part in races and time trials (practice should not count/cost). I would fully expect this to work out more expensive than having a timed subscription, but this is the price you pay for using this type of subscription model option.

It will never happen, but I can dream.

Edit, plus also what vehicle would you like to see added.... FIA European Truck Racing Championship vehicle!!! lol

I'm hoping to do the same at some point and have been bookmarking stuff as it comes to me, may be of some use to you...

Thanks, that's a great help!

I ordered from KJN, so I can recommend them. A guy on the iRacing forums actually send me the part list for a rig he just built with a great movable keyboard tray & triple monitor mount, I'm just trying to get hold of all ideas possible so I can build something decent when the time comes.

Let me know how you get on.

I'm going to give iRacing a go, signed up for a 3 month subscription for $9 and managed to get myself a Driving Force GT wheel off ebay today

I doubt the wheel will get here before the weekend though which is a bit of a shame but hopefully I should be able to make a start next week

Welcome to the money pit of sim racing. :D

It can be if you enjoy it.

There's a never ending supply of sim racing hardware that you can be tempted to buy to increase your level of enjoyment and realism.

Even iRacing can be expensive when you start to buy tracks and cars to compete in other series.

Still on the fence regarding a cockpit and wheel! Loving the workstation/sim cockpit flexibility of the Obutto with it's articulated keyboard/mouse tray, but also the rigidity and infinite adjustment of 8020 build. Leaning towards a longer term higher quality, robust wheel in an OSW.

The just be faster 8020 with the keyboard tray from the Obutto would be almost perfect, should be possible?

If I was building again now and considering an OSW (like I am) then I would certainly go with 8020, no doubt.

I have plans from another guy for a design he made that features an excellent keyboard tray, far better than the Obutto one as it offers a lot of adaptability and is not quite so cumbersome if close to a wall etc.

The JCL is not great value although they do look nice.
