If I was building again now and considering an OSW (like I am) then I would certainly go with 8020, no doubt.

I have plans from another guy for a design he made that features an excellent keyboard tray, far better than the Obutto one as it offers a lot of adaptability and is not quite so cumbersome if close to a wall etc.

The JCL is not great value although they do look nice.

That keyboard tray looks well nice, and solid too, thanks in advance for posting the plans :)

JCL is indeed expensive, but as I dont have the skills nor the tools to build my own, I'd probably be ok with laying out the extra to get from JCL, including that kind of tray. Cheers Muska.

Well I did say when I first built my Obutto Revolution I didn't think the seat was of any real quality.

Lasted less than four months, it's not as if it's been abused either. I only weigh 72 kilos and don't even adjust the reclining position at all.

Sent them an email asking for a new seat.

I'll let you know how I get on. At least I paid with PayPal, so I should eb able to get a resolution either way.

No racing for me for a while.

That's not very good at all!

I've got about 10kg on you and touch wood no problems here, perhaps it was a faulty one as I can't imagine you were putting lots of force through the rear of the seat.

Have you thought of getting a partial refund and just replacing the seat with something from Sparco etc?

Had an email back from the guy at Obuuto EU, he's apologised and will start the RMA process you get me a replacement seat. Can say fairer than that, so I'll just have to wait and see how long it takes to get up and running again.

I'll probably still try and source a real car seat and then maybe keep the replacement Obutto seat in the loft as a spare.

I was reasonably competitive in the GT3 at Lime Rock in practice, earlier in the week as well. Inside the top ten in most only practice sessions. Should've raced when I had the chance. Though I reckon most races would have been a wreck fest, that track is too small and narrow for GT cars in the hands of amateur sim races.

Hows the replacement seat going Barmy?

I've decided to embark on building an OSW wheel and base. The kit I've ordered is almost plug and play, probably more akin to building a PC than wiring and soldering. Hopefully it will be here around 1st/2nd week of October.

So if you know anyone looking for some Fanatec kit give me a shout. I'm also looking at the wheels Sam Maxwell produces... proper wheel porn!

I think I'm decided on a Sparco P310 and it will be something basic from him for starters to keep the cost down, although I do have a SimInstruments dash now so I will try and have that incorporated into the wheel. I also have Martin Ascher GT Carbon shifter paddles in the post.

If anyone is interested, I'll log the parts I'm buying and the build.

As for racing, I've not ran an official race in ages, it's taken me a while to have confidence in my ability to race a clean race with the new pedals. Back soon now I think.

Seat replacement news is basically it's been passed on to Chris Dunagan, the founder of Obutto I believe, and he's taken my shipping details and I should get a replacement soon. Though I haven't received and tracking information yet.

I have fudged a temporary fix, which basically involves wedging a length of wood diagonally between the back of the seat and the skirting board.

I've also upgraded to a GTX 980 TI, my 970 wasn't cutting it powering three screens.

Probably would have raced this week but I'm not a fan of Silversrone. Maybe the Skippy at Brazil instead.

What gear and how much, can email me as I know PM don't work on here.

I have a 2 year sub sat in my inbox for half price and a 3 months for one. But not been able to take advantage of them as I still haven't fixed my broken pedals.

I was going to take barmas Thrusmasters but then the summer came and i purcashed a new RC helicopter instead. But winters coming soon I'd love to sim again

Managed to get myself out of Rookies, took me quite a while to get my laptime down in the MX5

Managed a couple of good finishes in my races too

Had a couple of Skippy races at Interlagos this week, was running 3rd and was within a second of 1st and 2nd when I spun it 4 laps from the end. So frustrating but I can only blame myself really

Also done a couple of races in the CTS-V at Road Atlanta. Forgot I had cold tyres and spun it going over the hill on the 1st lap chasing 4th

Think I'll leave those two tracks now and focus on practicing for the next two tracks

It is worrying how addictive this game is!
