iRacing

I was in a practice session before my race last night with Rubens, was faster than him too!

Sadly he wasn't in my split in the race though

Yeah, I wasn't sure at first but after the race someone said it was the real one, looked on the forums and there's an old thread in GD there where a staff member confirms it's him. Apparently he races a fair bit with his son, there's a video of him pushing his son over the line when he ran out of fuel.

He doesn't appear to be alien fast, think he was 7 tenths or so faster than me in Q, from other session I was around 1-1.3s slower than the fastest people usually. Still not really comfortable/fast in the car tbh.

Woohoo, guess what happened here then :)

Second win at Monza this week in the FR2, I adore this track! I seem to have the speed around here, especially the twp lezmo corners.

On the other hand I'm dog slow and haven't got a clue why I'm so slow :p I'll probably do some races as I can turn laps easily enough with any incidents but I'm soooooo slow...

I'll post my setup when I get home from work tonight. Probably around half eightish.

Works well in all weather conditions, optimal is sub 1.48 in race.

Corner 1 and the 2nd lezmo are the 2 most important corners in the lap as far as I'm concerned. Get on the gas slowly but surely when you are just about to straighten up, my wheel is usually around 45 degrees when I start on the throttle. The 2nd lezmo tap the brakes about a car length after the 50 sign, the right front should kiss the inside of the raised kerb and get straight in he throttle. If you have to run wide use all the green to do so and force the wheel straight.

I only had one run and I think the setup I grabbed off the forums was a bit understeery for me, but didn't tweak other than to add fuel to run a decent number of laps, which went well overall.

I think on the entry to T1 I'm leaving it too late and not using enough kerb at the first bit of the chicane, exit seemed ok though and was generally able to get the power down quite early and well with controllable oversteer if a bit too eager.

2nd Lesmo wasn't great, too much understeer for my liking on that set made more evident here, but I can see how that can be one of the main points.

Going to give it some more practice tonight with hopefully some racing tomorrow afternoon/evening, can't get any worse :p

Thanks for that, just given it a few laps, much better turn in than the other set and quicker, but if anything gone the other way, the old one was slow and stable and this (in my hands at least) is a bit too unstable, but that was after just a few laps though, didn't get as much practice as I wanted this evening.

|did about 50 laps before I was comfortable with it. I also pracyiced on a super grippy setup to give me the confidence.

Try a late afternoon session, 19 C, 60% humidity, mostly cloudy. I did a 48 dead in those conditions after about 30 laps of practice.

Thanks for the set Marker, that's the first time I've felt comfortable driving the FR20 since it came out. Still only managed a 49.9 though. Could be the weather as the best in the practice session was a 49.6.

You've got me thinking I might even race it now :)

Glad to see I could help someone out. Now go grab that win :)

Got my third win last night using that set.

Let's stay at Monza for ever lol

Wow what a first race in the FR and my first in months on IRacing. Going in to the race I was struggling with and only could consistently put in 1.52s but in qualifying everything seemed to click and i managed a 1.50.2 which put me 11th. It seems nobody can drive these cars and despite everyone being very careful in the first corner the rest of the race was carnage. People taking each other out and me with some very careful overtakes got a 3rd place in the end with only 1 incident point. My fastest lap was a 1.49.3 in the end I reckon I can get into the 1.48s with a good lap. Forgot how much I enjoy Iracing, need a drink after that race though.

Nice one on the podium.

The FR series has become an exercise in incident avoidance rather than racing.

The licence required is too low and you've got drivers barely capable of driving in a straight line in some races.

The licence system should include a probation period where by newly gained licence holders race each other only for a few weeks. During that time they need to drive in a certain amount of races with a maximum number of incidents before they get the full licence to compete with more experience racers.

Just witnessed the worst driving I have ever seen in Iracing.

I have worked my way up from 1400IR this week to just over 2000, gained 2.3SR which was low due to the first week at Spa.

I started in the lower splits and the driving standard of races that I have been in are better than the top splits I have been in.

4th top split just there, most drivers over 2000IR, so you expect them to adhear to racing protocol, oh no not here! Blocking, swerving, brake checking, you name it they did it. Then the people who are doing all the swerving are complaining and accusing others when they hit somone and get knocked off.

Cant believe I forgot to save the replay..

I was in the 3rd split so you think they should at least be able to drive without crashing into one another. I really like the car and I've been playing a lot of automobilsta f3s recently which has definitely helped as they handle quite similarly.

I haven't raced the FR for two weeks, I've gone back to the Skippy and it's been some of the fairest and cleanest racing I've ever enjoyed for a long time.

I've done five races and finished 6th or better in all but one race. Even that race would have been a top 5 if I hadn't out braked myself which end in contact. It caused decent damage but I still limped home in 9th.

All five races netted an IR gain.

I'd say most of the idiots that used to be in the Skippy series have migrated to the FR and that's one of the reasons is a wreckfest.

It's the same way the start of every season. The nomad tards who just race whatever's around without learning any specific car (let alone racecraft) always gravitate to the new shiny stuff.

Case in point:

I'm hoping that as the season goes on the better it gets, was the Spa race even worse? Road Atlanta will be interesting this week, I've raced it a lot on Forza games but never Iracing, do I got for a low downforce set up because of the straights or a medium set up?

I've not had a bad week at Monza as far as idiots are concerned, I take it very cautious in the first chicane and let everyone else crash into each other

I think next season is going to be better when all the hackers and slashers move onto something else or maybe as their SR rating drops

Looking forward to Road Atlanta, love the circuit and did some ok practice times yesterday
