I've just gotten myself a g29 few weeks back and have been tempted to get this because project cars and assetta corsa online is cancer. How much would it be looking to spend to buy Iracing and enough tracks and vehicles to keep me going for awhile.

It can be a can of expensive worms once you open it.

I suggest getting a 1 or 3 month subscription and just drive the rookie series and see how you go. There are probably some codes doing the rounds for free or cheap 1 or 3 months subs, so Google first.

I think the last time I looked I'd spend close to $700 on subscriptions and content over the last four years since I started. There's no try before you buy and no refunds, so you can end up with a lot of cars you never drive in official races.

Anyone going to be running Prototype Challenge next season?

Looks like it could be good and I've always wanted to do some multi-class racing but IMSA never appealed

I think they have changed IMSA for next season as well to include the GT3 cars?

Could be some good tin top racing next season, not really sure what to race. The FR2.0 is good fun but the quality of the racing drastically depends on which split you make it into

Ouch, quite the number but from 4 years I suppose its not too bad. Might just wait it out and enjoy my current games while I continue to get used to my wheel

Like I said, have a Google and see what offers there are for a short term subscription. You'll get access to the base content of cars and tracks. You can compete in the rookie road and oval series with the base content without having to buy any more cars or tracks.

If you like it then you only need buy the Skip Barber car to race in the next level series. It uses a decent amount of the included tracks in a season so you can still compete some weeks with having just the car. Plus there are other series that use base content some weeks.

Alternatively try and join a private league for pCARS or AC if you want better racing experience .

Don't forget the test facility that goes up when Iracing goes down for maintenance.

That allows you to drive any car and any track that you have downloaded for free offline.

I suggest that if you do get it, do as Bally says above but download all the cars so you can test them.

I think Prototype Challenge is no more from the end of this season. IIRC it's now:

IMSA: C7DP, GT3 (Audi, Mercedes, BMW, McLaren), CSpec
Prototype/GT: HPD, GT1 (Aston & Corvette), GT2 (Ford)

I'll be doing them both, IMSA in a DP and P/GT in the Aston :)

Sorry yeah that is what I meant the "new" prototype challenge GT whatever it's called

I hate the DP, tried driving it a few times and just can't get on with it so might run GT3 in IMSA and not sure what in P/GT

I don't mind the DP. Granted it's a little un-involving to drive, similar to a GT3, but it's got more power and it's very tail happy so at least there's some skill involved to keep it on the road :)

Join a club or league, plenty of fun gentlemen racing clubs if you just want a place to race in clean races.

Anyone up for a feew endurance races next season?

GT3 would be good for me, looking at the endurance series, prob not do them all just the odd one here and there.

Or a 12 or 24 hr race would interest me.

FR is still carnage then? Had a rather disappointing 15th finish and five incident points. Got 4x from the first lap when a car punted another into me. Then some idiot weaved across the track in a braking zone and then complained that I hit him, this caused my one and only spin of the race. I like the feel of track and I have reasonable pace, biggest plus that I made no unforced errors.

I could be up for that, I'm not sure on a 12 or 24 hour race as I don't know I could spare the time but certainly some BES stuff

I will also be up for it (not sure about the 24hr) but I haven't raced GT3 at all, the only car I have is the McLaren. What car are we thinking and I'll start practising it?

I'd be up for Endurance as well if the stars align and I can be free, 12/24 hour seems like a good challenge :p

Is there a limit on team size? could you have a 12-person team doing 2-hour stints in theory? might make it easier to organise?
