Wow. I thought the 2:07.9 was an amazing race lap in my last race - and that guy finished second :eek:

I should have finished an easy 4th in that race and pick up a healthy 152 div points, but I managed to throw it away at Falken bend.

For some reason the car didn't downshift to 3rd properly approaching the right kink before the bend which unsettled the car, and at that point there is just nowhere to go. I managed to avoid the walls, but half-spun across the track on the exit of Falken. I waited for a few cars to go by and went when there was a gap, although it turned out to not be a big enough gap and I got ploughed. 5 mins in the pits and a recovery drive to 10th place saw me lose 4 IR and .13 SR. Could have been a lot worse I guess.

I'll have to keep it clean in the next SOF race tomorrow as I need the points. 1st place in div 2 is now a whopping 75 points ahead :(
 
Terrible week. Got taken out of the lead in a WSCS race last night as the guy in the second placed CSpec made a very optimistic divebomb on me as I let an HPD leader through.

I immediately jumped in to a RUF Cup race at Bathurst after that simply with the intention of keeping it clean as I hadn't managed a good race there all week. Started off well holding 2nd place. The leader was an alien doing 2:07s and was 4 seconds in front by the end of lap 2. I had a nice 5 second gap to third place, until he took himself out. Come the third lap I and the gap was 10 seconds to the new third place guy. Trying to take it easy, no pressure on me at all, 'just get a good finish. Lots of points, plenty of iR for #5 car'.... and I missed a gear approaching the cutting and stuck it straight in the wall :(

Any hope of winning the division have evaporated now as I'm 44 points off the division leader. I need a good week this week at Suzuka to hold on to 2nd, as the gaggle behind me are now only ~20 points away.

Only raced once this week. A lucky win and 122 points puts me in third in my division. No chance of winning it unless the leader doesn't race at Sonoma next week. Even then I'd need a top five finish at a minimum to have a chance at overhauling his lead.

I've had to go back to using V Sync as well, the stuttering at high frame rates is doing my head in. I even did a clean install of Windows, drivers and iRacing to see if it would help. I don't get it with other sims or games, so I know it's not hardest related.
 
Suzuka in the RUF Cup is a bit different to the 'hoon' Bathurst was last week! It's much more a careful balance on the throttle for most of the track.

I've just bought some Fanatec CSP V2's, so before I post them on the iRacing forums, if anyone is interested in my G27 pedals with GTEYE spring mod and bodnar cable, let me know.

Thank God for that! Bathurst was a nightmare last week. Lost over 250 IR :(

I'm looking forward to Suzuka, although haven't had a chance to practice yet as I've got a stinker of a cold. I've seen the fast guys are in the 2:07s already.

How are the new pedals compared to the Logitechs?
 
I only ordered them today, hopefully here for the weekend, but most probably next week, I'll report back when I've given them a good test.

As for the fast guys at Suzuka, the Aliens in RUF Cup are running 2:05.6 already! Mental!

What's the Fanatec shifter like?

Actually went to order and Obutto Revolution last week, but they're out of stock until February next year.
 
Thats an awesome setup Muska, puts my Momo and 20" Dell to shame :)

Spent the evening trying to get in to the 2:05s at Suzuka in the CSpec. 2:06.2 was the best I could manage with a quali setup. Had a couple of laps which were fast enough, but ended up ditching it in one corner or another. Optimal around 05.4, so I'm pretty sure I can get there.

My race pace is around high 2:06s, although my setup seems to chew tyres within 5 laps so needs some work too.

Cheers, if only it made me faster! ;)

The fanatec shifter is excellent, solid as a rock, I have it pretty stiff and once I learned the timing (slightly different coming from using paddles) it's definitely a better experience. Even more so in the GT3 cars to be honest. I haven't really used it in H pattern mode but I'm sure it's just as good.

My only complaint is that once the vibration during a GT3 endurance event it slipped slightly out of sequential mode (it's a slider near the base) and would not shift for about half a lap till I figured out what had happened! It's only happened once though and I know to check it's in position before racing now. It's a beast, very heavy and needs mounting solid, but I'd highly recommend it.

edit: Spunkey, damn with some decent pedals and wheel you would be an alien too! Those are great times, I hit a 2:07.888 best so far and can lap mid to high 08's in race.
 
Anyone know how the points system works?

Before I raced tonight I was on 505 points in my division. After the race I was awarded 112 championships points yet my division points is now only 546.
 
Hi all,

What's the best way to get into iRacing? Is there any good links to read before I take the plunge? I had a look at the site and might just do a months membership but are there any offers on I should look at?
