Is East London a dangerous place to live?

As said though, it's not just London, basically any town can be a bit rough, and it's spilling out to villages too. It only needs one problem family of scumbags to move in to completely wreck a place.

I think we are actually agreeing to be honest. Parts of London are grim, as are parts of Basingstoke, Hull etc. Parts of "Hull" are nice (like Cottingham). My point was that saying "London" is horrible is ridiculous.

You don't have to go too far in any many areas to buffer up against the "Find Out' part of the FAAFO line. I've lived in very nice - and equally not nice - parts of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Surrey & London over the years and the idea of 'dangerous place to live' is just a scale, it's timing, it's bad luck (or good luck), and you get on with it.

I remember meeting up with a fellow gamer, when he visited London to watch arsenal play.
I met him down there for a few days.
We visited some " interesting" areas, as we were walking passed some 4-5 storey flats I said its rough around here, keep your eyes open.

He said rough? Haven't you forgotten where I'm from:D

He's Israeli and seen a few sights back home, we have fireworks in the sky, they have missiles.

On Saturday, my wife and I and my child went to East London, Newham to do a little shopping and break our fast.

Is this typical or was I just unlucky?

LOL yes, it's a **** hole.

A few decades ago the native locals used to hijack lorries, whole streets of families involved.

These days there have been plenty of new arrivals and many of them are no strangers to crime either. :D

Looking at some charts very quickly it seems Sweden had similar murder rate from 1990-2006ish, then got on top of it from 2007-2014 before it reverted back to previous rate from 2014 onwards.

I know the common view is that it's gone up from 2014 onwards because of increased immigration and gang activity but why was it as high back in the 90s and early 00s ? Quality of living for average citizen has increased since then perhaps ?

Lol the UK and Sweden can both be **** I don't see the big deal.
Most of Europe is importing problems.

I think crime waves come and go according to the particular demographic of the people you are importing. There was a time when it was Kosovo Albania folk and they found a niche in Sweden to setup their crime shop and blow the hell out of each over here too.
Next wave are all a bit excited to see some uncovered legs and it's rape o'clock.
I don't see a huge problem from the Ukrainian community who's turn it os now.... Yet?

Btw you know I've only lived here ten years i can't stand to represent the whole of Sverige:p

Also gang crime. I don't give much of a toss as long as it's idiots killing idiots whatever country it is. No it's not a great situation...

There was a back patch biker war going on in the '90's between the HA and Banditos, but not sure there was this level of fatalities. People laugh, but they were using machine guns, car bombs and anti tank weapons... :D

Yeah hells angels biker type wars were a thing once apparently lol.

There are a few gun related murders here and even explosive incidents (most related to mining, not military explosives) but its either hunting man shotguns his wife or culturally enriched drug dealer has a disagreement with local competition.
Wherever there's money or some mentally ill fwit, which there plenty of here you got a chance of being murdered, chopped up. And hidden in a forest. (True story) lol

I seem to remember Sweden having quite the "mob" scene back in the 90s. Could be wrong

It's really not rocket science.

Poor 2nd gen immigrants in gang warfare for control of drugs.

Find anyone in Sweden that will say that and they will labeled a Nazi.

They will never integrate fully. It's probably best to just to let them murder each other out of existence and accept collateral damage or send in the Helldivers.

It's just a blessing it's very limited to certain areas of high eastern European, post soviet cultural enrichment and falafel regions.
