Is it time to sack Wenger?

If Woodgate is so damn good that comparing Gallas and Vermaelen to him is insulting, how come he didn't get picked for the England squad? When the likes of Dawson and Upson did? Is it just that Capello is stupid and can't see how amazing he is? Or is that you are unbelievably, pathetically bias?

Or could it be he has been injured all season? :p

There is no way that King and Woodgate are much better than Verm and Gallas. They are top notch defenders, as are King and Woody. There really is not much difference in ability.

But just due to their injuries, Verm and Gallas are going to be much more interesting to any team out there that is looking for a defender. They also work quite well as a team, Arsenals defensive problems have come largely when one of them is out for one reason or another.

King and Woodgate are crippled though?

*ignoring who I feel is better out of the four, the big thing Gallas and Verm having going for them is their ability to well, be fit.

They may have made top 4 but it was closer than some people realise. Tottenham could have snatched 3rd and if Man City were that little bit better Arsenal could have missed out.

It isn't Wengers fault Arsenal haven't won anything lately, IMO. I do have reservations on the clubs transfer dealings.

Yeah and Arsenal could have also easily won the title if things had turned out better for them.

Tottenham and City collapsed under the pressure much like Arsenal did for the title. Five points ahead of 4th place doesnt suggest that they were in danger of losing their CL spot does it. :p

He's linked to that before and I read through it and I'm sure there were about 5 errors, most of which weren't entirely his fault and all of them against Barca or Man Utd when the entire team made about 10 mistakes each.

He's made a few mistakes this season, but overall he's not made many at all. Vidic is in my eyes the best defender around and he's made plenty of induvidual howlers against players like Torres, sometimes you play against somebody so good they force you into errors.

That said I do agree that he's been over rated a little this season, but most people have taken into account that he's come from being a left back in Holland to CB in a title race in England and has adapted superbly for the most part. His inclusion into the team has been seamless and that attests to his quality, he will only improve and I think it's stubborn to negate his obvious talent because of a few mistakes, akin to those that all defenders make.

I don't think Vermaelen is a bad defender, but I also don't think he is world class either. I think his goals this season have blinded some people.

Permanent cripples by the looks of it as well...well semi permanent cripples i mean:p

I don't have a high horse, I'm a Sheffield United fan. Have your  back.

LOL! :D

Seriously anyone who uses Zonal Marking to show that Vermaelen is **** is an idiot themselves. I read the article about a month ago when it was first shown and it shows 4 or so games, 2 of which were against Barcelona and I challenge any of you guys to see your defence playing an impeccable game against Barcelona. Vermaelen had a poor game for 4 games or so, doesn't make him a terrible defender by any stretch of the imagination, it shows just a run of bad form and he's been consistently one of our best players throughout the season.

As for King and Woodgate being the best in the world if they're fit, thanks, I needed to wake up to a good joke this morning. :D

lmao

Arsenal’s organisational problems at the back, exacerbated by the lack of a commanding goalkeeper, were reflected in the number of goals they conceded from set-pieces, 23 – only the three relegated sides and Wigan let in more.
:D

And Arsenal’s crossing is poor or non-existent and accordingly they take their position at the bottom of that stat:

Arsenal's defenders are better than they look, they're not helped by playing behind the most attack minded midfield/strikers in the league who frankly don't concentrate enough on defending, and in front of one of the poorest 'keepers in the league. I think each defender would slot into most teams in the world and not look out of place, I think the likes of Sagna and Clichy will end up at big clubs if/when they leave

I'm pretty sure that Arsenals goal difference is better than Spurs goal difference. I just checked and it is. Bringing crosses into it has nothing do with anything quite frankly as we have scored more than you and conceded the same amount of goals as your club so seeing as we have organisational problems at the back then what does that say for the Spuds who have just played arguably their best league season in history?

To me that suggests that Spuds at their best are equivalent to Arsenal at one of the worst defensive periods of our recent history.

HAHAHAHAHA

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA

lol at Gallas and Vermaelen. Over the hill defender and average defender equals the club who failed to win the title again.

AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

Calm down dear.

Seriously though if King/Woodgate were fit all the time they would be the best central defensive partnership in the country and I personally would argue the world.

They are much better than Rio/Terry and if it wasnt for fitness problems King would have long ago ended up at Man Utd or Chelsea (a big club) and Woodgate would be there with him or still at Real, he went there for a reason.

They have both been massively unlucky with injuries and whilst some may choose to debate my preference of them over Rio/Terry comparing to average players like Gallas/Vermaelen to King and Woodgate is insulting.

Woodgate was so good he even made Bramble look competent :p

The flaws in your train of thought have already been pointed out. Also well, they're not always fit are they? And in the case of King that's never going to happen, to extrapolate he'll be better if he was is totally unprovable and hypothetical at best. I also compared Gallas/Vermaelen to King/Woodgate, Rio/Terry have nothing whatsoever to do with it. Oops.

I get excited sometimes :)

I am not arguing the point of their fitness. I am saying that a fit woodgate or a fit king is better than either of the Arsenal pairing. Nor did I argue the toss that woodgate and king would be more useful to a team than V+G. You probably would get more games out of V+G than you would out of W+K making most managers more liable to go for a pairing of V+G (though personally considering both the fitness and ability arguement I would choose V+K)

My arguement was hypothetical in the sense that comparing both partnerships together if they played together all the time. My other arguement of pure ability, regardless of current form or injury history, is a factual (if opiniated) one based on the players themselves.

My comments about Rio/Terry was just something I put in to highlight the point I was making.

So in summary mate, ooops ;)

Yeah it is rather humurous when I read back that little tiff this evening, was not really in the mood to banter words last night :p
