Is it time to sack Wenger?

Obviously he picked the team, his selection was overly conservative etc. We started the 2nd half brightly, looked more up for it, but then Verm fell over and let Robinho score which killed the game there and then and sent the players back to the pits. I don't think even he could have predicted how badly everyone would play for most of the game, as after all, the very same players managed to top their group - however mediocre some of them are - and are capable of playing much better than they did. They'd probably have still lost over 2 legs, and we'd still be talking about the dross in the side due to Wenger, but the aggregate scoreline wouldn't have been so embarrassing.

And my mistake, it was training yesterday, apparently. Anyway, his contract runs out in 2014 and I can't see him carrying on, so only a couple more seasons...

It's shocking the thing of it is, besides Vermaelen I honestly don't think anyone had a bad game, realise what I'm saying, most of them were ****, truly terrible, but I don't think most had a bad game. That is simply the level Rosicky has been at for years, Song doesn't know how to defend at all, Sagna and Gibbs are the least positionally aware fullbacks in the league.

I mock Johnson because, he is poor defensively, but he's as good as Sagna defensively and offers a lot more going forwards. Gibbs, honestly was invisible for large parts of the game, useless going forwards, completely inept defensively.

Arteta has spent almost 3 years now being a midfield spoiler rather than a creator, he plays deeper than Song and, to be fair didn't look as bad, with zero defending happening one guy can't close down or tackle a whole team, he was neither good nor bad, too many people expect him to be some creative force with Song behind him as DM, problem is because Song can't defend he's in the team as a DM that also requires a real DM to actually do his role.

Arteta is being blamed for not being Fabregas, when he's actually being asked to play as Makelele. Again I don't think he's been great but blaming him for all the midfield woes is a joke.

The team is not anywhere near good enough, Milan weren't out of a light jog and thrashed us, we gifted them 2, maybe 3 of the goals. Wenger is ENTIRELY responsible for the squad he's put together, they aren't capable of playing(consistently) beyond the level we saw in that game.

When we play worse teams, the squad will "appear" better, but their actual quality doesn't change at all.

Wenger also managed to claim he got nothing wrong tactically, lol, absolving himself of all blame. Ox our only inform player was dropped for no reason, Rosicky who has been nothing but useless started. We gave RVP zero support, then brought on a striker at half time, even though our one striker got none of the ball in the first half, so second half, two strikers got none of the ball.

When you can't get the ball to your frontmen, you change THE MIDFIELD, not the front, its ridiculous. The formation we started with was ridiculous, defensively, I'm not sure we had an awful lot of choices but Gibbs, isn't great defensively, wasn't match fit and honestly probably shouldn't have played, injury prone player just back running up and down that ridiculous pitch. I frankly would have gone Coquelin and Ox starting, and god knows what in defence. But the way Wenger is placing the blame on players for simply not being better players, and absolving himself of all tactical responsibility is god damned shameful.

It's about time Wenger switches up the formation when Plan A is not working. In recent games RvP has been too isolated. He needs more support. We don't have the creativity in the Midfield at the moment so we need to play a 4-4-2 with Chamakh up top and RvP dropping deep so more like a 4-4-1-1. Arshavin / Gervinho on the left, Chamberlain / Walcott on the right, Song and Arteta in the middle, or Ramsey / Rosicky.

It's a big shame that we have lost Wilshere and I also feel Santos was turning into a very useful player. Sagna and Gibbs have only just returned from a long spell on the sidelines so their fitness it nowhere near Match level. TV had a shocker and Kos got injured.

Why the hell have we extended Djourou contract ???

Why the hell have we extended Djourou contract ???

cos he was at the end of season party where wenger was cuddled up with walcott telling him how brilliant he was and he got pictures on his mobile, along with denilson, diaby, arshavin....... :D

Obviously its the press and not definitely true but The Sun are reporting the players are getting angry because they don't practice defending during training and don't practice defending set pieces...... which frankly though completely ridiculous for a team is somehow completely believable.

Also Zlatan has apparently been in the press telling RVP to leave Arsenal asap.

No idea what that clubs sugar daddy was thinking when he started pumping money into the club. I read that a lot of the players don't even live in the area it's so dangerous. Also, isn't it in the same region where the Beslan massacre happened?

I can semi-understand players wanting to play in Moscow, but seriously who in their right mind could play in Dagestan? No amount of money could persuade me to live there, let alone work there.

Implode time. Guttless performance really. Same old Wenger and arsenal.

If we dont make top 4, will the board finally get rid? surely they must have a limit to how bad arsenal can become/finish in a season? What is there limit or are they justw aiting until the emirates stadium becomes half empty?

They charge us a arm and leg to watch them play like a bunch of barbie dolls.

The squad is completely gutless. Disgusting and Disgraceful. Its just so frustrating that everyone can see this and have been complaining for years and nothing is getting done.

Nuke Arsenal from orbit.

wenger has lost it, RvP won't stay its a joke, the board need to up the wages cap to keep the big names, sack wenger and bring in Jose Mourinho and get some bloody trophies

The board is just as bad as Wenger has become though. All they have in their eyes is £ signs, when it's got to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if they needed to sell RVP to keep costs down. Mismanaged at every level.

You can't easily blame the board, but also not dismiss the possibility.

The vast majority of fans would have crucified the board had Wenger been fired at any stage up till the last couple months. Sure, some have been calling for his head for a long time, most have not, at all. The question really is what do the board do now, with a manager they couldn't fire, they couldn't force him to spend, or get rid of certain players, basically the board was letting Wenger do whatever he wanted.

if a new manager comes in and can't spend, maybe blame the board, it depends, Arsenal are going to be very possibly making a loss without the CL money. If a new manager comes in, ditches the crap and isn't allowed to buy replacements at all......... then I'd lean more heavily towards the board being partially to blame.

I don't care if a new manager takes 5 years to rebuild a team buying younger cheaper players while getting rid of crap. Frankly Arsenal need a "Newcastle" 3 years, drop off a bit, sell the dross, bring in great value players and establish a real team again.

Selling three players to buy 3 "big" names on big wages isn't going to fix Arsenal, we need basically 15 players replacing, 2 headline names won't bring Arsenal back to their best, 15 would. We can afford to ditch a bunch of crap and bring in 10 sub 5mil players, some free, who have genuine potential.

Mourninho has ZERO history with bringing through youngsters, his buying record is poor and he's wasted 100mils in the past 7-8 years on dross with only a few really star buys. if he joined Arsenal he'd push for 2-3 stars, on obscene wages and leave us in financial trouble with a team still incapable of competing.

Again like I've been saying, had the fans helped force Wenger out 3-4 years ago, the rebuilding job would be 2-3 major players and a title push, now its WAY to late for a small rebuild. Ox, maybe, Wilshire definintely(but no proof his body can hack it yet), RVP, Verm, keeper are about the only people I'd definitely want to stay, and Verm ONLY if he can prove his fitness.

koscielny to!! ;)

That said though there wouldn't be too much of a deficit if they sold all the useless players for the rebuild.

50 million pound bid for Neymar this summer lets go go go! :p :D

Therein lies one of the problems. Some of the players are almost unsellable and getting rid of them, unless they give them away for nothing, is going to be a hell of a task. With all but loose change to show for half the squad you've just axed, can you even buy anyone decent?

Also, the quality of football has gone down and down, so the 'come and play for the Barca-lite' type thing is no longer a lure. Several teams play nicer football than us now.

Jose would probably be too costly a choice, but a manager who has players loyal to him who'd follow him about would be good because we don't have the kind of historical lure a club like Liverpool does.
