Is the theme of the OC forum a tad outdated and hard to read

I like it, but can't help to notice that the forum seems to be in gradual decline in terms of active users. It certainly feels that way in the Life section.

It is clear, simple and the theme is as good as it gets. Compared with other forums this place is close to heaven. No change is necessary.

Only natural with the cost of living crisis and most people having upgraded their PC during lockdown.

Speakers corner contributors are a bit special.

As regards the forum though. It's grrrrrrreat. :D(says Tony the tiger)

Most of the users have been here since the early 2000s. This is our little corner of the old internet, how it used to be. And we like it this way.

Sometimes in certain ways I wish it could go back to the early/mid 2000s. Society and life seemed to be more stable and better. Not this narcissistic world it is today where everyone obsesses over clicks, likes and money.

While some things are better today, so many other things are worse.
Keep the forum as it is. It is the last bastion of a dedicated forum I use. Everything else is all bloody Discord nowadays.

I thought it was all Facebook clones?

I'm fine hosting images with free providers like imgur, and I like the dark theme, works well for me.

What other forums are better? Be good to see what I am missing, I hate facebook/twitter/reddit etc, they are harder to read IMO, the layout and attempt to declutter just makes it all disjoint and not easy to follow, or as easy as this place..

bandwidth and storage aren't really of a concern when you have 5 users however :)

God could you imaging allowing people uploading images here. Would need TBs/PBs of central storage with backups, would be a nightmare!

@Beef Burger has volunteered to pay for us for a server and backup server along with administration costs to be allowed to upload images.

Thanks a lot! :)

The cost will be 2x engineers @£100K-£150K per year.
Multiple CDN servers configured around the world. - £30K per area that will be..... 15x locations around the world.
+ backup systems.

OcUK Will invoice you in the post. Cheers.
