Is the theme of the OC forum a tad outdated and hard to read

No need to change. Easy to read/navigate and I like the fact it is still recognisable as the same forum I joined decades ago before the nuke.

There are a number of websites that use the same software as this forum but the colours and layout are much more user friendly.

For instance dark mode on here looks weird but you go to other websites and their dark theme is a lot better planned out, it’s not 2 tone colours.

The other main forum I use is Talk Photography, me personally I prefer their version of the forum layout.

Here’s ocuk dark theme:

And here’s the TP forum:

The font used with the option to use their own avatar makes it look more modern.

Reddit makes my eyes bleed.

Reddit's fine once you know how to collapse replies (I only found this out the other day ). It was getting annoying having to scan through replies to a reply rather than reading replies to the actual post.

I definitely prefer the "community" software for forums - not sure what the official name for it is. But they don't faff around with pages, you just get a scroll bar.

I don’t even know what any of that means! Unless someone sends me a link to something on Reddit that takes me straight to the content, I’m lost. I blame my age!

that just upsets me even looking at that link :( :p

:D Yes, I remember that at first. Then I tried getting into Reddit as some people told me to get on it. Then over a few weeks, it started to click.

Even Discord is starting nested messes of discussions lately. Windows within windows of windows.

Though I still cannot get on with twitter or Fleecebook. It's still a cluster. Hate the layout. Hate the confinements plus it doesn't have forum atmosphere. Plus it feels like you're being profiled for targetted ads or algorithms.

It’s an easy mistake to make but you should opt for classic blue and embrace what you know to be right.

Use your own avatars?! More modern font?!

I’m going to be sick.
