People don't seem to realise Hamas wants to kill Jews.

It's not interested in a two state solution.

It wants to destroy Israel.

Unless supporters really do hate Jews, then I think they assume this is just another chapter of a long situation.

It is a strange position to see people on the left supporting Hamas, who were part of the Muslim Brotherhood ie literal Nazi collaborators.

Nobody here is supporting Hamas. We really are just going in circles. Round and around and around and around.

Look, here's a silly analogy. If the guy to your right pees in your cornflakes, you don't make things better by turning to the guy on the left and peeing in his.

Also Israel's own actions have played a part in the attitudes of their neighbours towards them. Some people like to tell us that everybody hates Israel purely because they are Jewish. Maybe the actions of Israel for many years now have played some part in defining how they are viewed. It shouldn't be a strange concept. Reputation is earned, and sometimes hostility is earned too.

Again tho, everybody here condemns in the strongest possible terms what Hamas has done. Let's not leave any room for doubt about that.

I'm not interested in your [foreign-owned media foisted) views on the licence fees. Just your confirmation that you hold the BBC to a different, perverse standard to the standrard to which you hold your news outlets of choice, and feel that the aftermath of atrocities is the perfect opportunity to air those double standards.

Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East, a strong US ally, and a crucial strategic location for Western political and military interests.

Ukraine is not a NATO member, and the US does not want to spark a major war in Europe.

Hamas has more to gain from using human shields (safety or propaganda points) than Isreal has to gain from wasting munitions on random civilians. (Nothing or even worse, more hatred against Israel)

-So it's more likely that Isreal had info that Hamas was in, or under, the building.

It's just a timely reminder that we're not in the US and we can't say whatever we like. It's actually quite civil considering there are some diametrically opposed views here!

Which other media outlets are refusing to refer to Hamas as terrorists?

The force has seen a "massive increase" in antisemitic incidents in London in the last week.
"Offences ranging from intimidating people in front of synagogues, people playing German military music in front of Jews, or people laughing and celebrating the deaths in Israel," the Met said in a statement.
A spokesperson said there is a "significant level of concern" in the Jewish community and people are "genuinely scared".
In 2022, there were 14 antisemitic incidents and 12 offences recorded by the Met.
This year, there have been 105 antisemitic incidents and 75 offences.
A rise in Islamophobic incidents has also been reported, but on a much smaller scale, the Met said.
Thousands of people are expected to attend a pro-Palestinian march in London tomorrow.
The Met has warned any expression of support for Hamas - either a flag or behaviour - will be a criminal offence.
Having a Palestinian flag will not be considered an offence, but people will be arrested if their behaviour incites or supports violence...''
