Israel-Hamas war - Please do not post videos showing attacks/similar

A few minutes viewing the videos on X of the civilian casualties of the Hamas attack and the cheering crowds of a kidnapped, clearly raped young Israeli woman might sway your position.

For me it’s too complicated and deeply rooted in hate, religion and violence - I have no idea who’s right or wrong.

I imagine you could find countless examples of iniquities being committed by both sides, they both hate each other so much - I don’t see how you can fathom right or wrong in it.

It just seems like an endless bloodbath without rhyme or reason.

Both sides are fanatics. The eye for an eye just keeps going. The blood bath about to unfold will just make another generation with absolute hate for Israel and so the cycle continues.

Israel had the power in my opinion to halt this cycle years ago by making a fair carve up of territory so that Palestine could prosper. They chose instead to exert control over Palestine like a strangle hold so this is what happens, like cornering a rat.
Uhm, they did. Go read up on Camp David with Bill Clinton and Oslo Peace Accords. It was offered and not accepted.

Imagine how much further they would have been along if they had abided by the terms initially agreed upon.

After that, the Israelis just accepted a two state solution and peace were not going to happen and moved on.

Obviously wasn't a generous enough offer then.

Not quite the same but that does remind me of the Usman Khan case who stabbed to death Jack Merritt and Saskia Jones on London bridge who worked for Cambridge university in support of people like Khan only later to be killed by the people they were trying to help.
Unfortunately many people from the west take for granted or do not comprehend the safety nets good men have managed to create through centuries of strife.

Woke media have blood on their hands regarding this matter.

The point was, take away religion and there will just be other reasons for regions to existing in a state of perpetual war.

And in any case, eradicating religion is completely unrealistic, isn't it?

Eradicating no. That mankind may one day evolve beyond the need for a belief in some sky fairy, maybe, none of us will be alive to see it sadly.

Yeah because Russia invading Ukraine and UK invading Iraq was all about religion

Most religions do generally more good than bad and no the wokism religion you're part of is not one of them.

No clearly they are political wars. Though politics is sadly moving into the realm of being almost religious, certainly cultish.

No they don't and they most certainly don't when it comes to that area of the world.

They absolutely do. Why don't you join your local parish for a few months?

You'll meet some lovely people and you might even end up doing something good for the community instead of being terminally online.

For some groups anything short of Israel's complete oblivion is never going to be satisfactory.

Until there's significant changes in the political sphere from both sides I can't see how peace can achieved. Ian Paisley said on the eve of the good Friday agreement 'My views haven't changed but the world around has moved on'. When the right people in that part of world come to such a realisation hopefully things can get better.
