It remains to be seen now if Israel shows a modicum of restraint once they've got the situation under control or just decide to flatten Palestine.

There will always be people to replace those terrorists that get killed. Hamas doesn't care for the well being of the people it's meant to be looking after in the Gaza strip it wants a heavy handed response from Israel as it plays to their political agenda (just a courtesy glance at this thread shows there's plenty of people in the west who won't call out Hamas out on it's atrocities).

That's literally happened in the last 5 minutes, not 45 minutes ago. I agree they've now said they're at war.

This doesn't sound good:

"At the same time, I ordered an extensive reserve mobilization and a retaliatory war with a strength and scope that the enemy had never known.

"The enemy will pay a price he has never known. In the meantime, I call on all citizens of Israel to strictly obey the instructions of the army and the instructions of the Home Command."

A bit simplistic to say 'As long as Israel illegally occupies and oppresses the Palestinians, they will fight back'. That would imply peace could be achieved if Israel relaxed it's security protocols when dealing with the Palestinians. Hamas has made clear to all that Israel has no right to exist and wants Israel and the Israelis wiped out from existence, that's what Israel is fighting against.

Really? I could make a long list of atrocities perpetrated by Israel going back decades against the Palestinians, I'm not going to bother thought as it would be a waste of time for you because I'm sure you already know. I'm not defending either side - that's the rather obvious point you missed. Both sides are locked in vicious nasty spiral of violence - if you truly believe Israel are pure are driven snow in this, it's not my morals that are *******.
 
To be fair, and I appreciate it isn't quite a realistic example for obvious reasons, but can you imagine that somehow they managed to come to the UK and do they same thing?

I think most people would be signing on and picking up a gun at the earliest opportunity.

Last time I checked gay people had the right to exist in Israel without being thrown off a roof top, people could believe what they want without being arrested or murdered, women had the right denied to them across the border.

Palestine is is Isis by a different name..

Absolutely. That's what makes the whole situation such a mess. Violence and atrocities on both sides breed more violence and atrocities on the other, and down and down the spiral goes.

Is Sderot in the Gaza Strip? It doesn't look like it from the maps I've seen. Did it used to be and the Gaza Strip recently shrunk?
 
Ah the usual "Left Wing" supporting usernames jumping into defend the actions of a terror-group, and that they think that by saying "I'm not defending XYZ.............BUT" makes it OK is absolutely no surprise as usual.

Once the media/press get around to showing people what HAMAS, the world recognised terror group, have just done to civilians (and evidence can already be found on Twitter etc) just remember what these posters in here have said, I will.
