This current very right wing religious Israeli government (fascists) were on the way out given all the protests against them. Weekly protests going on for nearly a year now against them, up and down the country with thousands turning out in each location. This war is going to put them right back in control, and keep peace even further away. But then Hamas don't want peace either, at least the leadership don't, they're nowhere near Israel and have plenty of cash coming in because of it.
100%, it's like the ordinary people of both Palestinians and Israelis get caught up in it all.
It certainly puts the West in a tricky situation. We can't whinge at the world about Russia stealing territory from Ukraine at the same time as supporting Israel from doing the same to Palestine.
Is that like how the Russians voted for Putin?

Dunno if it's just me, but I wonder if the war in Ukraine has sucked up time and intelligence resource and that has partially led to what seems a cluster of wars/ conflicts in the last few months.
I suspect this is going to be an absolute bloodbath in coming weeks.

Israel are buddy buddy with Russia - that has no bearing on their inteligence. I can see this being their 9/11. Completely caught with their pants down.

There’s very little point in side-ism when it comes to observing the atrocities. Some people on both sides of ‘the fence’ are hateful and antagonise the other side. Unfortunately, the bad blood it’s institutional, systemic and generational. Just like all other conflicts like this.
I do admittedly typically lean towards support for Palestine civilians, acknowledging that Palestine itself carries aggressors and is also worthy of criticism, but what is the sense in this organised attack by Hamas?! Terrible stuff.

Not really, they can't go too far against Russia, but they're not close friends. They've gone against them in Ukraine.

That's a fair point.
They are also supported by the US- I was thinking more about divided US attention, to be honest.
My point being they are not an active contributor in anyway - regardless, not the topic for it.

They're supplying intelligence on drones, defensive equipment including early warning missile detection systems. They're contributing.
How much money and resources have gone into building likely 10s, if not 100s of thousands of rockets etc, that could have gone to improving lives.
Hamas were voted in to start with, but had no further elections, the general Gaza population cannot be held responsible for them being in power now. The awful Israeli government are probably laughing in happiness over this happening now, as it may keep them in power for longer. They couldn't have hoped for better after all the protests against them.

Yes to all four.
They shot a female journalist in the head not long ago, and are well known to target civilians.
They have been torturing for decades.
They have been multiple reports of rape against Israeli forces, most of the cases “findings” by Israel are classified.
Israel has been abducting Palestinian civilians including children for decades. They used also use them as literal human shields tying them up to there vehicles so Palestinians would not shoot at them when they would invade.

This is what gets me. I do get the resentment from Palestine. But to just constantly provoke a military power that can do some serious damage is just like picking up a hornets nest and dropping it for the lols.
