Well no, but they will just stop them from entering the Gaza strip.... Are truck drivers going to ram through roadblocks?
Egypt has its own border crossing into the Gaza strip just beside Rafah. Any food trucks from Egypt aren't going via the Israeli controlled checkpoints.

Jesus at least the Ukrainian thread has some "knowledgeable" people in there feeding it updates. This is just a load of ****. I get everyone has something to say and an opinion but speak about a lot of drivel. ( my post included)
its because its a hot topic.
Once this has been in the news for over 2-3 weeks, there will only be a typical 8-10 users who will be updating and arguing in here.

Nothing stopping Israeli forces from setting up roadblocks just inside the border with Egypt? (Not sure on the legal implications of this TBH)

IDF is about to send in 300k soldiers, that's enough to filter out hamas from the population, anyone not reporting to the gathering zone may be assumed to be hamas

That's going to backfire spectacularly if you think civilians are going to be little lambs and let Hamas be exposed. Remember, they have a huge backing amongst the Palestinian populous.

Civilians are going to get killed regardless and then we'll see crisis actors in their dozens.

I dare say the elderly and disabled left behind Grimm unable to quickly get there accept your glorious postings.

Nothing new I'm afraid, going on for years

Hamas put rocket launchers on roof of civilian buildings. Israel responds by dropping a roof knocker bomb to tell people to evacuate the building, anyone stil inside after 10 mins dies when the building collapses

I'm not sure this will work. Israel is going to mass 2 million people and sort out Hamas fighters based on what, those that dont turn up?

What about those Hamas fighters and supporters amongst amongst the portion of the 2 million people that did turn up? Hoping the Palesitians will out the Hamas fighters? What if you support Hamas ideologically but aren't a militant?

What if nearly everyone doesn't play ball? The Palestinians aren't suddenly going to be all chummy and just fall in line. You think they'll trust Israel? It's a nice opportunity to mass deport everyone or worse.

How long are they going to house and feed 2 million people before letting them go home?

It matters little for now. Israel knows exactly who's running Hamas, they know who their main targets are, once the leadership is gone, they will take control of Gaza for good or insert a new government of their choosing or hand it over to the UN

Ignoring whether people support a group or not as I believe there are stronger factors at play than that.

For instance put yourself in a Gazan's shoes, your neighbour is about to invade your home do you,

A: Trust your neighbour and go to more dense environs.
B: Distrust your neighbour because you think it's a ploy to wipe everyone out.

People don't need to support Hamas to question whether it's a sensible idea to gravitate towards areas Israel has marked as 'safe'. This is also before we include decades of propaganda, misinformation and word of mouth anecdotes telling people to choose B.

I suspect the ringleaders of Hamas will bolt into Egypt to escape the consequences of their actions when the net closes in.

Anyone seen the story of the German tourist?

There is a video of the body of the girl been paraded in the streets in the back of a flat bed truck - people spitting on her etc. Absolutely horrific.

It's dumb, is what it is. The girl was an innocent victim. To treat her in that way only serves to seal their own fate.

I have no real knowledge or understanding about all this. I have only looked at one news article.

Its a different world for me and I am too disconnected to this to even begin to understand the complexities.

Having a look at this thread makes it even harder to make sense of what's going on.

The videos and pictures of the build up are pretty clear. Gaza is not going to exist very soon, Israel is going to go in and take control of it all by force.

It's not really that complicated.

Jewish immigrants flooded the area. The local Arabs got annoyed and fighting broke out. The UN divided up the land. The hostilities have been getting worse. Peace is very fragile. Hamas decided to end discussions with this attack. Israel will now kick sand in their faces. The rest of the surrounding Arab nations don't think too much of the Israelis. If we are lucky, then the conflict won't escalate. This has long been considered the tinderbox that could start World War III, so let's hope it won't.

The end (of the beginning).
