Why Israel has released unblurred photos of the bodies of charred babies

By Alistair Bunkall, Middle East correspondent, in Israel
There has been a debate in Israeli media over recent days whether to show the more graphic images of the victims of Saturday's terror attack so that the world would be left in no doubt as to the atrocities committed by Hamas.
Today, after meeting with Antony Blinken, Benjamin Netanyahu posted three images on the official Twitter account of the Israeli prime minister.
Two of the photos show the charred bodies of babies, a third shows a baby with multiple bullet holes. Mr Blinken was visibly shocked in a later news conference, and I imagine anyone else who saw the photographs would feel the same.
Israel is determined that its response to this horror must be the elimination of Hamas.
It has the support of its allies – posting these photos publicly is a move to get wider international support.
The images were not blurred on social media - but Sky News has chosen to do so...

So much for helping the people of Gaza!

He's condemned a lot of them to death,

:(
''The morgue at Gaza's biggest hospital has overflowed, turning the carpark into a "graveyard".

Bodies are laid in rows on the ground, while inside, the dead are stacked three-high outside the walk-in cooler of Gaza City's Shifa hospital.

The intensive care unit is fairing no better, with wounded people lying in corridors.

And there are only four days of fuel left powering oxygen equipment keeping infants alive, said Naser Bolbol, head of the hospital's nursery department.

Then, "a disaster will occur within five minutes", she said...''

I think we all know where this is going...

''US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has been speaking on a visit to Israel this evening where he said the government had showed him photographs and videos of the victims of attacks by Hamas.

He said the images included a baby riddled with bullets, soldiers beheaded, and young people burned alive in their cars or hideaways.

Mr Blinken added: "If you look at (the incursion) in proportion to the size of Israel's population, this is the equivalent of ten 9/11s.

"That's how big and how devastating the attack has been."

This twitter account seems questionable - Do we know much about visegrad?

HAMAS have a logo but I can't see it here. A few Palestinian flags though.
Palestinian=Hamas it seems on that tweet. Regardless, Palestinian demos have been banned there now. I expect that could happen in a few more countries before it all spirals quickly out of control.

The people in this country barely lift a finger against a government running the country into the ground... and some posters expect people to rise up against actual murderous suppressive regimes... amazing.
It's easier behind a keyboard. I should think at this moment most Palastinians in Gaza are just trying to make it through the night.

It's happened in the past. Usually when enough of the civilan population says enough is enough - I can't see that happening in gaza though. There's a reason Egypt and the like won't take them in.
Egypt are being ***** though really in not letting at least women and children in. How you could seperate Hamas scum from innocent Palestinian males though I have no idea. The whole situation is tragic.

I get that, but I think that's part of the point I'm making - in reality we're not really going to generate any impact, but we are painting a target on our backs by getting involved..,.

The 2017 terror attacks stick in my memory..

I get the US getting involved, they want to to use Israel to project their power over that continent, and Israel is full of yanks anyway...

But the UK.... I just don't like the idea of us getting involved.
Terror attacks will happen now regardless. Several Brits were killed last Saturday too by Hamas, the UK was never just going to stand by and do nothing.

IDF about to go in I think...

Israel's military has urged all civilians in Gaza City to leave their homes.

"This evacuation is for your own safety," the IDF said - in a strong hint that it's set to begin it's expected ground assault.

Hundreds of thousands of civilians are being told to move southwards below Wadi Gaza.

They will only be able to return to Gaza City when the IDF says it is safe to do so.

Here is the full statement...

lcimg-e167e2e4-8fcd-4e9a-945a-6e437aed7aa3.jpeg

"The IDF calls for the evacuation of all civilians of Gaza City from their homes southwards for their own safety and protection and move to the area south of the Wadi Gaza, as shown on the map.

"The Hamas terrorist organization waged a war against the State of Israel and Gaza City is an area where military operations take place. This evacuation is for your own safety.

"You will be able to return to Gaza City only when another announcement permitting it is made. Do not approach the area of the security fence with the State of Israel.

"Hamas terrorists are hiding in Gaza City inside tunnels underneath houses and inside buildings populated with innocent Gazan civilians.

"Civilians of Gaza City, evacuate south for your own safety and the safety of your families and distance yourself from Hamas terrorists who are using you as human shields.

"In the following days, the IDF will continue to operate significantly in Gaza City and make extensive efforts to avoid harming civilians."
