Israel will have free reign to do what it likes for a while, I doubt anything will stop what is about to happen now, not with more and more atrocities being discovered.

When an islamic terrorist killed a good friend of mine in the Fishmongers hall attack I wanted to skin him alive. I still have those feelings now, so I can well imagine what Israelis are feeling.

'Israel will "wipe out" Hamas after children were burnt alive, beheaded and shot in the head, a government minister from the country has told Sky News.
Israel's economics minister Nir Barkat said its military operation would continue until there was a "clear white flag" and there was a "more moderate" replacement for the militant group that rules in the Gaza Strip.
"Just now, we have heard of 40 young boys, some of them were burnt alive, some were beheaded, some were shot in the head," the minister told Sky's Mark Austin - although the Israeli Defence Force has not confirmed this.
Mr Barkat added: "The whole country is united to take Hamas out of this world, to take them out.
"All the militants, all the infrastructure, the people supporting Hamas. We will wipe them out.
"We're coming in to kill the militants, and any civilians [should] move aside.
"If you do not move aside and you're giving cover to the Hamas militants, you're risking your life.
"We do not want to hurt innocent people."
Mr Barkat compared Hamas to ISIS and said their attacks were an example of "what they want to do to Israel, to all the Jews here".
Israel will "eliminate these ISIS guys off of the face of the earth", he added.
"This is our September 11, we will never allow this again," Mr Barkat said...'

I'm guessing that's why the Americans have parked a carrier in the area. It should be quite a deterrent.

Some people will still support them unfortunately. At least the thread has moved on a bit from 'but what about Israel!' to 'the Palestinians are innocent bystanders' now.

I'm not so sure they will flatten the place. There must be a huge amount of rage there at the moment, as each new atrocity comes to light, and I'm sure news like burning babies and decapitating kids won't help the mood.
They've told civilians to move to certain areas for safety (not sure how easy that is though, or if the hamas scum will even let them) so whilst some are obviously in a murderous mood others seem to be a bit more measured.
We'll find out soon enough I think.

I just don’t see how any final or lasting goal can be achieved, without the complete takeover of Gaza and for me that would require 300-400k troops on the ground.

*Whether Israel should take over Gaza or not, from the perspective of “right or wrong” is beyond me, and I think that the whole situation has now transcended any notion of right or wrong, it just needs to be done.

I think this is what they will do. They know they will most likely lose potentially hundreds/thousands of soldiers, and the same will happen to the other side.

Neighbouring countries have to want to let them in though. Apparently the US want Eqypt to open a humanitarian corridor, not sure they will be too keen on the idea, unless it was just for women and children maybe.

I expect once the known hamas locations are targeted they will change tactics. I suspect they have already hacked the mobile phone towers and ase energy becomes tighter only hamas will be allowed to use things like phones.

I think they'll won't take the city but create a DMZ around it filled with deep trenches to prevent tunnels and land mines.

Israels mobilised 360000 soldiers, I doubt they will just sit at the border tbh...

I'm sure all sides know this. Israel has always reacted with force, as it has to when attacked (like most countries do...) but the terrorists keep doing it anyway.
They can't allow this to happen again from Gaza, the best chance for innocent Palestinians now is being able to get the hell out.

They could, but will they? Displaced angry young Palestinians could be a problem for any country, even an Islamic one.
Potentially 2 million refugees if Israel wants to destroy Gaza.
