Aljazeera lol. Saying these people are descendants of those who were forced out in 1948, yikes.
I suspect the simplest explanation is Hamas were talked into doing this, likely involving Iran possibly even some Russian involvement, under the impression it would be a wider scale attack, and the other parties either got cold feet, were more talk than action and/or didn't exist.
There is somewhat the feeling that Israel are being baited but I can't really see how that plays out - there isn't really anyone in a position to capitalise on it.
The question is whether Hamas have prepared for this - they had to know once this kicked off there was no coming back.

This is different, the invasion of Iraq was wrong on many levels, the reason it happened was so the USA had a “target” post 9/11. So they picked Iraq.
What Hamas has done and is doing is originating directly from Gaza territory. What is also clear is that Hamas are determined to keep doing it. So I believe Israel are 100% justified in invading and taking full control.
I think they either expected others to join in and help them from the start, or they have prepared for the invasion and are looking to destory some Israeli armor and maybe even aviation as means of making Israel look vulnerable and pull others into help them.

Oh I agree with you, Israel is justified to do what they are doing. My point is you kill one evil you never know what's gonna come after, there is no certainty.
No doubt they've had help/prompting from other ME countries, you've got the various different wars against Israel over the past 70 odd years and also Israel and Saudi were very close to signing an agreement under the previous American presidency- something every other ME nation really doesn't want.

Yep, 100% justified. It's going to cost a lot lives on both sides, but I'm not sure they have much of a choice, Hamas don't want peace, they want to destroy Israel.
Also, highly unlikely anyone will interfere with a US carrier group parked nearby.
Well that's strange... considering the Saudi's appear to be bored of it and are currently in talks to normalise relations.

An amicable solution requires both parties to have the most basic human respect for each other’s existence. My father served in Palestine in 48/49 and said they will never have peace and came away with no sympathy for either faction.
