Israel/Palestine Shenanigans

Or more like something like this.. instead of the ******** propaganda we want all Jews dead.....

Al Jazeera: Kerry has announced a plan for a two-front initiative, a humanitarian truce followed by a ceasefire. What is the minimum Hamas is willing to accept for either to happen?

Osama Hamdan: We, the Palestinian resistance factions, have declared as a resistance [movement] that the ceasefire is supposed to not only be a truce but also has to result in lifting the siege on Gaza, opening the border crossings, and [for Palestinians in Gaza] to have free access to the world. We are also talking about a port and an airport.

[Our demands] also included the release of a number of Palestinians Israel arrested in the West Bank after Israel violated the 2012 ceasefire.

Arrests included Palestinian parliament speaker and [Hamas member Aziz Dweik] as well as at least 60 Palestinians who were released from prison based on the prisoners swap agreement which both parties agreed to. [Israel released hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in return for the release of the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit who had been captured by Hamas in 2006.]

This was meant to happen together. We are ready to talk about the schedule and the timings but we are not ready to ignore any of those demands.

So lift the blockade, open border crossings and free prisoners. Anyone would think they were winning. I read something earlier about assurances Hamas wouldn't rearm being rejected. Looks like its carrying on for the short term at least.

+1 ak22

Was just talking to a friend and we both agreed that they feel too many lives have been lost just to go back to square one. Would make it all in vain. Sacrifice is what it is now. An improvement on their lives, however small, or no life at all. That is their message and I salute them.

All Israel has to do is lift the evil blockade and the rockets will stop. Or carry on and become even more hated, to the point where it may not be possible to forgive them.

they could demand cheese from the moon, but they wouldn't get it. No chance Israel is going to hand Hamas a victory here unless they were heavily leaned on by the US.

Demanding cheese from the moon would be unreasonable, demanding the very basic of human rights is reasonable.

If Israel allowing basic human rights is a defeat in their eyes, something is very wrong with them.

Let's hope that the US lean on them, then, or they'll go down as the Nazis of the 21at century.

I dont actually see it making that much difference. The only thing that may have a detrimental effect *somewhat* is Israeli disobedience to the Obama's wishes to end the assault, but he and Netanyahu never got on and Netanyahu knows he's not in office for much longer.

Israel will pull back to its pre-war positions, declare job done and tunnels cleared, allow some reconstruction funds back into Gaza and everything will go back to as it was before.

Similar terms as last time both partys agreed Israel ****ed all over the deal, broke the ceasefire first and kept gaza them under blockage for years.

So basically Israel will carry on doing what it has been doing (hopefully minus murdering civilians) while Hamas are forced to stand back and watch...

No wonder Hamas never agreed to any of the other ceasefires...

Pretty much they have been doing it for 66+ years.....

Israel has accepted a UN request for a 24-hour ceasefire in Gaza, but warns the army will act if it is breached by Palestinian militants.

A crisis cabinet meeting extended Saturday's truce until midnight on Sunday (21:00 GMT).

The move comes despite Hamas militants firing rockets after they rejected an earlier attempt to prolong the truce.

Hamas said it would not accept a truce unless Israeli troops left Gaza and the displaced were allowed to return home.
