Yep sepp blatter and his dodgy back handers, the WC would have been far safer in england even the bloke who does radio 5 live match commentary is refusing to go to russia due to secuity concerns.

Agree with you on all counts tbh. It'll be interesting to see if the Russian 'hooligans' now back off as I don't believe they have gone there for the football at all and couldn't care less if the Russian team gets kicked out or not.

Agree, I expect more Russian trouble. Hopefully not involving our peaceful fun loving England fans.

Someone asked before if I thought England fans were always the victim and a rollseye comment. I said I didn't believe they are always victims but looking at the news reports today and reading about it, you an clearly see that Russians feel that attacking and beating up the English fans is some sort of feather in their cap. Due to the hooliganism in this country back in the 70/80s that created this image of our fans being the roughest/toughest people about, beating up ours now seems to be a statement more than anything. Those guys are just loons. As others have said, they don't travel for the football, they travel to fight.

Were they also defending themselves from the Police by throwing bottles at them? Don't just concentrate on one aspect of recent events and use it to vindicate the behaviour of people who we should all still condemn.

the thing is though. as with all media what we see is what they want to show us. with any element there will be bad.

so some english organized football hooligans will be there to fight.most will be well behaved.

the same will be with the other nationalities.

so now we see about the russains they are probably going to keep the media. even though there will be others fighting.
 
Seems like the French police are stopping groups of Russians traveling in to Lille and DEPORTING them immediately and banning them from re-entering. They are taking the stance of they have no other reason to go there except start trouble, which I agree with TBH.

I kind of like that about the French. They seem far more politically involved that we are in the UK, where we grumble about things we don't like behind closed doors. I don't condone violence, but it seems to get things done which is an unfortunate truth.

It isn't any different to this country is it. You've seen Rangers and Celtic fans go at it? Slashing people in the face. Bricks used to fly over the police officers heads at those games in the 80s.

French riot police are very robust and get the baton in quickly. No sympathy for the clowns that get thumped by them. Seems England got lucky not being fined and warned as their fans were involved and jailed.
