Italian Grand Prix 2011, Monza Circuit - Race 13/19

What happened with Hamilton there, up to the end of the second sector Hamilton was 0.37 up on Webber when he went round, then ended up just behind at the end, they suggested he was also not using DRS anywhere around the track...... sandbagging, doing 1 or 2 uber sectors then dropping off, hiding his pace a little? Had he kept the lap going I think he was set for another just under 1.24 lap.

EDIT:- now at the end of the session, 1st sector, what was he, 0.5 almost down, second sector he pulled that back to 0.1, and last sector he's back to 0.5 down, no idea what his setup is right now but he seems way slow in sector 1/3, and just epic in sector 2. Button was faster in q1 than Hamilton so not sure what the issue is, seems odd he can be that much slower than Rossberg, and is this the stupid big wing hurting the Mclarens really badly in sector 1/3?

Ever thought of more downforce, it's why they are epic in sector 2 and slow in the sector where top speed matters

Apparently Hamilton made the comment a few weeks back that he beleives RBR will still have an advantage next year.

I'm wondering, why he doesn't jump ship and make an effort to goto RBR?

Plead, beg, offer to drive for free - whatever it takes. Get in an RBR.

After this season, he will now understand that McLaren aren't capable of handling RBR and as such, he should make the (hard) decision.

I remember in 1992, when Senna was top dog, he offered to drive for free, for Williams - he was desperate to win and be in the best car. He stuck it out at McLaren for the remainder of 1992 and then in 1993. Then moved.

I think Hamilton has given McLaren enough time to sort themselves out (3 seasons) and perhaps it is now time to make a concerted effort to join RBR?

He should have gone atleast a year ago. They have shown an inability to build proper champion contending cars two years on the trot for 12 years. When was the last time they built back to back cars with a genuine shot. 98/99 and when before that late 80's.

Since Newey left they don't seem to react well to reg changes and never seem to build on the car from the previous year. It's back to square one and catch up.

Don't get me wrong they play catch up better than anyone else on the grid but that's a waste of Hamiltons career.

He should be going toe to toe with Vettel at Red Bull. I imagie he will stay and I hope Mclaren finally get it right.

On the one hand he's a very quick driver and RB have the best car so it's a match made in heaven but on the other would he be able to keep the car on the track in enough races to make it worthwhile for RB?

Would be interesting to see how many points he would be behind had he finished every race or kept out of trouble this season.
