Italian Grand Prix 2015, Monza - Race 12/19

Interesting that Rosberg's gone out again but Hamilton hasn't. Has he used another set of softs?

Yup.

Hamilton:
1 set new mediums used - now with 6 laps on them
1 set new softs used - now with 3 laps on them

Rosberg:
1 set new mediums used - now with 7 laps on them
2 sets new softs used - each now with 3 laps on them

However, Vettel has used 2 sets of mediums and 2 sets of softs.
Perez and Hulkenberg have used 1 set of mediums and 3 sets of softs

Were ever the merc quali, they will still 1-2 bar any mechanical issues. Rosberg could have 5 cars between him and ham and will still finish behind him.

So ham has a new version of the engine? Rosberg on the older version?

Yup. Hamilton has the new development engine put in for this event.
Rosberg had that engine, but it went this morning in FP3, so he's had stuck in his engine that he's used from Canada. So it's pretty worn. Canada, Spa and Monza on the same engine... Tough ask.

Going to be a good start tomorrow. Could be very good for Hamilton's championship if the ferraris get in there. Mercedes certainly aren't going to have it easy tomorrow.

Does that say merc see ham as the number 1 driver, even tho they are 'equal '

Nope.

They had 2 of the engines. Apparently the're so new that the second only arrived on thursday morning.

Rosbergs started to eat itself, so they've switched back to an old engine.

Hamilton's is fine, so why change it and cause your mechanics more work? Potentially causing issues with a rush installation? *see Verstappen's interesting Q1 run* No thanks.

Was there an overly large cheer when Kimi got second as opposed to Vettel. I can't quite decide, was that because they were happier to see Kimi in second or because they got two cars in the top three. I can understand that Ferrari fans might prefer Kimi at least for a while as he wasn't Ferrari's main competitor in recent seasons effectively taking titles away from them.

Interesting to see where the engines are at, people are somewhat automatically assuming Rosberg has way less power than Hamilton. The reality is a new engine won't be run maxed out as they don't know enough about it. It will be a conservative as hell race on that engine, it could be up on power or level, even possibly down on power though less likely. It's also being presumed the new engine has a higher base level of power than the old engine. This is by all accounts an update more about reliability and making the engine compatible with the updates they want to do for next year than being flat out faster right now.

Basically Rosberg was a half second down on Hamilton in the previous two races so being that far down today wasn't really a sign of anything at all.
