I remember the first time I drove to a petrol station in 2003 I paid 76.9p a litre! 35 litres cost £27. Now it’s £48.
My hand to God, I’m not deriding your post in the slightest, I feel your pain as much as the next guy, but it took me back to the late eighties/early nineties, when I was driving a London taxi.
The IRA had planted a few bombs in and around London, and panicked the population by phoning in some false bomb scares, resulting in tourists, particularly Americans, being conspicuous by their absence in London.
Naturally this made a dent in takings for the taxi trade.
Waiting on the rank at Westminster Abbey, another driver said to me, “I checked my books last night, and this week three years ago I took £X, so far this week I’ve taken 40% less than that.”
I nodded sympathetically, but my brain was saying, “3 years ago? Seriously? Get a life why don’t you?”
Allow me to emphasise, I’M NOT SUGGESTING FOR ONE MINUTE THAT YOU NEED TO GET A LIFE.
