I've done it!

I've lost 164.2lb (11st 10.2lb).
I weigh 163.8lb (11st 9.8lb).

Therefore I'm almost exactly half the man I used to be, I've lost 50% of my body weight!

So to celebrate, for the first time ever on here, here I am unmasked.

Thank you.
It's all down to eating 2,000 calories per day and walking five miles every day. No gym, no fads, nothing else.

Holy Crap Dude!!!

I'm currently sitting at 22(ish) stone and NEED to loose at least 4 stone to get back under the dreaded 40bmi (we've been told it'll count against us in our adoption application)

You my friend are an inspiration to me!!

I can easily do 2000 calories a day (My fitness pal has me on 1850 a day right now) the only thing I never did was the walking!!

As I've changed jobs, and now no longer need to get up at 5am and do a 12+ hour day, I can (and WILL) start on my walking!!!

Dude!! Congrats on that!!! :)

That's extremely impressive but how on earth do you get to 22st in the first place. Surely somewhere along the way you think you are a bit overweight or someone says something which causes you to reevaluate how you look?

Some people naturally put weight on by eating too much while other don't. Lad at work is stick thin yet he'll eat loads of junk at lunch time like 3 bars of chocolate, 4 pk of fresh cream eclairs etc. While I get fat just eating a sausage roll.

You have to work with what you've got. If you have a "slow metabolism" or rather a lower basal metabolic rate... eat less calories. Your body will need less calories, so it's not like anyone gets dealt an unfair hand (unless you have some sort of irregular hormone imbalance).

Congratulations, great effort. Have a cookie!

Ah. No! Wait! What am I doing! Ahhhh!

On a serious note, its good to see someone promoting the "eat less crap, do more exercise" diet method, and proving it works. Gym memberships, diet plans, anything that requires you to pay anything is just not needed.

Slimming World, etc, groups are just a con to make money. People pay a weekly fee and feel good about themselves if they lose 20g of weight. Yet they could lose more if they just cut down on eating rubbish without paying money to Slimming World.

That doesn't explain why you don't realise somewhere along the way to 22st that you are becoming overweight. Absolutely not excuse for it in my opinion. Someone of average height should start to realise something isn't right around 14-15st, surely?

Yes they will but they may not be in a position to do much about it.

I spent a good twelve months living in premier inns and working nights. KFC and papa johns were my staple diet.

I'd bet my house it took the OP a lot longer to gradually put that weight on than it took to lose it

Got absolutely sod all to do with realisation. It's not easy.
Why do people get in debt, why do people get addicted and everything else bad for us.
It is very hard for people to stop and change.

Man, you should give lectures to everyone suffering from some form of addiction. Make millions with your wise words.

Hey, alcoholics, why don't you realise you're drunk all the time and somewhere along the way you'll end up with alcohol poisoning and die? Absolutely no excuse for it in my opinion, so stop drinking.

Hey, smokers, why don't you realise you're smoking 30 cigarettes a day, and somewhere along the way you'll end up with lung cancer? Absolutely no excuse for it in my opinion, so stop smoking.

Hey, gamblers, why don't you realise you're wasting all your money at slot machines and somewhere along the way you'll end up bankrupt without a home? Absolutely no excuse for it in my opinion, so stop gambling.

Because more often than not you don't realise just how much you have put on. You might look in the mirror and think you've gained a few inchs on your belly, when in actual fact you've gained 3 stone of fat.

3 months ago I thought I was 16 stone, my job is active and physical, my diet wasn't great but no means as bad as it can be, after a visit to the GP, turned out I was almost 19 stone, but didn't look it as the weight was distributed all over.

Now after 44 days of strict diet and 5 days a week exercise I am down to 16 stone and still dropping.

While i personally agree with your mind-set my wife has lost just under 100lbs on Weight Watchers as their system of control is easier for her to follow then working out calories on each item of food. it worked for me to a point but i couldn’t get on with the meetings... something was working as i lost 55lbs but have stayed the same weight since leaving despite going to the gym.

It’s all about self-control, and i know due to shift work i lose all self-control when i am tired meaning the biscuits etc... That are in the house for the kids are a simple snack when i get home from work.

things like this show how possible it is though and OP you may of just give me the proof i need and motivation to get back into eating properly as its 6 months until i am 30 and we are off for a nice few days in London as a couple and I would like to be able to enjoy it... let’s hope in 5 1/2 months i will be posting my own thread like this

anyway OT well done OP it’s a massive achievement
