Jack Straw has the right idea!

This whole caper has just reminded me of how I very nearly ruined my holiday actually, Kinda seething again just remembering it.

Saturday afternoon last week I was walking down the high street in my town after doing a little shopping for the remainder of the goodies I needed to go abroad, nearly home and I stop at a crossing behind a presumably muslim woman (headscarf and veil again) her husband who is pushing a pushchair, and their perhaps nine year old daughter...

speaking 'forn so I have no idea what was said, but the Little girl said something to her mother (who ignored her) and about five seconds after she said it her father PUNCHED her in the side of the head with enough force to almost knock her over, I was incredibly angry when I saw it and sorely tempted to give him a crack around the face himself, his wife visibly flinched when he did it, but said nothing, when the crossing went he grabbed the girl and dragged her over the road.

I love kids (mostly) and am not against the occasional smack across the legs for serious behaviour, but nearly flattening a nine year old?

Quite honestly if I'd not been going abroad the next day I'd probably be in the cop shop for a 'racially motivated attack' right now :(

Tbph, race or religion has nothing to do with what you have posted here, child abuse is very well documented accross all creeds in all honesty, and if you felt that strongly why didnt your report the guy or speak up at aleast, violence doesnt always require violence to sort out the issue.

It is not his problem, it is not his actions that are frightening a small child.
It is NOT normal for people to walk around looking like some shambling laundry pile with no face, I can imagine it must look like something from Dr Who to small kids.
It is a very strong "stuff your culture, your way of life, just give me my benefits" message that is sent out when someone so utterly fails to conform to the norms in this way. Why should we tolerate it? Adapt, fit in or move out.

It his is problem tho, every day of the week i see differently dressed people which are likely to scare people, i take my adopted nephews out every now and then, they are scared to buggery by goths, but i dont go upto them and them to change to something i deem to be acceptable, i tell the little uns i just something different.

Why do muslim women wear veils?

My understanding of *** koran (wich is very very poor) is that men and women must dress modestly and does not state they have to wear a veil. I'n men its from above the navel to the knees. Now why isn't women from neck to knee's?

The veil to me seems it was used to originally used by jealous Muslim men to hide there girls, Know I think it's turned into a symbol and a bad one at that.

Now if I'm totally of the mark please do correct me, if I'm not then why is modest clothing for a girl to show nothing apart from the eyes, it just doesn't make much sense. It seems more tradition than any religious aspect.

Why can't England put there foot down like France?

Eventually its going to cause some serious fighting, I think we are already seeing the beginning of it with the Dairy farm.

My feeling is that people are getting fed up of the situation.

Welcome to musland.

Well done Jack Straw

btw, can someone educate me as to the religious resoning behind these veil's?

I just heard a very ignorant comment on Granada Reports, an email from a viewer:

Muslims shouldn't be allowed to wear veils because if a Christian wore a baseball cap they wold be wtold to take it off

I just hate ignorant thinking like that. Firstly, baseball caps have absolutely nothing to do with Christianity or any other religion, and secondly if a Muslim wore a basball bat in the same envirionment (ie school), they would also be told to remove it. Its a totally senseless arguement.

:o :o

I don't see what that guy said that could be classed as ignorant , A baseball cap isn't religious nor is a veil that a muslim wears, so they should NOT be allowed to wear them in a lot of situations.

(does not state they have to wear a veil)

It amazes me, all of this uproar about Mr Straw asking Muslim women to remove said piece, the media seems to have completely forgotten that it was'nt disgruntled muslims bringing this to the Medias attention, it was Mr Straw himself!

I'm sure the Muslim women, had they been so offended, would have brought this matter to the fore themselves.

This country's media tries to create news rather than report it!

is it ignorance to expect that pseudo religious dress should be accepted wholeheartedly in an unoccustomed country where culture decrees that the said dress brings connotations which are despised by the local, majority population?

yes its true that baseball caps are not religious. but who said we have to conform to religious dress sense, if these go against local customs and laws? say u had your passport photo taken in a baseball cap, do you think it would be accepted on your application, or rejected?

(rejected to those who are still searching for an answer. asking a muslim to pose like any other citizen is an expectation, and a legality which should not be curbed by over zealus religious rattlings.)

The sight of a Goth invokes only a bemused sense of pity, i refuse to believe anyone can be scared of such creatures.

with Jedi being considered a religion, i suggest that everyone who works go into work dressed as a jedi, citing religious beliefs, and harrass the nation pushing for Jedi benefits/law amendments until the government eventually disgard religious pressure to debilitate our culture?

Well why do majority of muslims talk meaningless drivel in the media about it being a right as a muslim to wear it and part of their faith? If its not required stfu and get on with it.

Basically what I think...

lol, that reminds me of the cartoon i saw in the Sun today - a black police officer working in a strip club, and when asked why he said moral reasons...lol.

Rewind it all you like, I have not used the terms 'right' or 'wrong' so your comment hold no salience to what I have said. I do not care for your concepts of halal and haram behaviour, I hold compassion for everyone as a human being and that is something far beyond and above what any book could tell me.
I feel your love for muslims.

And I am free . . whilst serving my creator.
