Jaguar I-Pace Thread

I don't recall the range being mentioned in the Fully Charged video, anyone know what it should be?

I saw one yesterday on the M69 heading towards Leicester - I quite like the look of it, especially in the super bright blue that the chap driving had it in. Handsome car in motion :)

WLTP puts it at 298 miles, so realistic figure is about 250 +/- 10 miles. More than enough for anyone that isn't a sales rep, or likes to drive more than 250 miles without stopping for some weird reason :)

Impressive!

Impressive!

It's not that impressive considering it has a 90kwh battery, the efficiency is worse than anything on the market currently including the much bigger and heavier Model X. Nothing has yet to come close to the Ionic which is the clear efficiency king currently.

Still a nice car though and 250 miles is ultimately a good range and more than most will need.

It's not as bad as you make out, after all the Model X 100D battery has usable capacity of 94kWh, and does roughly 290 miles using combined mileage, in mild weather. We have already looked into the Model X, and it's great, but it's about 25-30% more expensive than the Jag, and you don't gain a great deal, unless you need 7 seats.

Isn't this out already?
There's one parked across from my office most days.

EDIT: Moron. Think it's an E-Pace near my office. Move along, nothing to see here.

I did not see the mention of it in this thread so some might not know that on 27 March Jaguar and Waymo (Google/Alphabet self driving car subsidiary) jointly announced that Waymo will purchase up to 20,000 Jaguar i-Pace vehicles that will be converted into self driving Waymo vehicles. In this Guardian link, they note that this purchase is a huge vote of confidence in Jaguar's "first steps in electric vehicles."

The i-Pace vehicles will go into Waymo's ride-hailing service starting in 2020 and is worth £ 1.3 billion. Testing of the i-Pace will begin later this year by Waymo in Arizona. Waymo intends to begin a commercial ride hailing self driving vehicle service in Arizona later this year. They will be the only Company to provide the service with no safety driver in the front seat.

Some positive reviews which is nice to see although I'm still 50/50 on the design, sometimes it looks great, and other times it looks like it was designed in 2005 (very "rounded" edges).

Also six USB plugs (great), five 12v sockets (what? Why so many, especially with so many USB sockets!) yet no 110v or 230v socket, far more useful than five 12 volt sockets especially as the car is essentially one huge battery.

More of these please! I think Jaguars push to make an EV SUV that is just an evolution of their ICE vehicles is the way to go in many ways.

Sadly, the only EV currently doing this is Nissan's eNV-200. And only in Japan.

Adding a DC-DC converter and an inverter is too much of a faff, I guess, unless there's a demonstrable market for it.

You aren't going to get a 395bhp, 4WD Jaguar car with that spec that will do 0-60 in 4.5 secs for £35k. F-Pace Prestige 300PS is £45k with 0-60 in 5.7s, and I doubt the spec has the tech etc that the I-Pace has.

There will be a premium, but it's not that much.

But that assumes the F-Pace is a well priced car. I will reserve judgement as I've not been in one but if its anything like the XF....

It's certainly a missing feature when compared to ICE vehicles of a similar size/segment in North America, although that said with the move to USB-C for charging laptops there is less of a need for one for someone buying an I-Pace.

I doubt its any more of a faf to run one from the EV battery than normal car battery either. It's one of those features that before you have it you don't see a need for it, but when you do... It's indispensable. Far more useful than five 12v plugs. :D
