I imagine it'll cross the $2b mark too
Box Office Mojo publishes US gross adjusted for ticket price inflation:

Avatar is currently #26, compared to Titanic at #6
Finally watched this, had fun for the first half an hour or so, it looks great. Got bored soon after the fascination with the visuals ended, as the storyline left pretty much everything to be desired, why on earth didn't they put any effort into that part of the movie, could have been excellent![]()
Considering the film had quiet a lot of footage cut out to make it cinema ready I'd image the DVD/Bluray release to be something special indeed.
Hopefully they will release a special edition with all missing footage as i would gladly pay 30-40 quid for it on bluray.
But was the cut footage actually rendered? I would imagine it would be costly to render stuff solely to then throw it away?
Sure it wasn't mostly cut prior to filming?
The only know cut scene that was actually filmed is the sex scene, which will be included on the DVD/Blu-Ray release.
Yeah you can imagine any discussions with James Cameron and the studios about further projects
"So yeah, my last two films have made almost $4 billion, can I get funding for Uber-Ninja Meerkats of Awesome Fight Back Against the Evil Venus Fly Trap-Esque Alien Invaders: The Quadrilogy - IN 3D?"
"Yes missa Cameron, anything you say sah"

Shame there isn't more![]()
Well I did say "known", even if I missed an N, for all we know there could be more.
Going to see this for the third time tonight with family.
Finally saw the IMAX 3D version at Printworks, Manchester.
The 3D lost it's WOW factor after a few minutes leaving an empty and predictable film. Maybe I was expecting too much, I don't know. I noticed a lot of motion blur as well.
