January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

So what have I missed? Do the Liverpool fans think Torres is on his way or not? How do you feel about him now it's fahct that he wants out of Liverpool?

Also read on Sky Sports that Taarabt says he's signing for us, what do Spurs fans think about this seeing he was deemed not good enough for them? Personally I'll believe it when I see it, he wouldn't be the first player to say that he's signing for us only for him to be miss-quoted/lying about the whole thing.

he left in 2007 from what i remember. only thing i remember about him was him coming on as a sub against west ham, giving the ball away lots but he did go on a run, got fouled, won a free kick, from which berbatov scored to take it to 2-2 and we then went on to win 2-3 was a great sunday afternoon :D anyway, jol was manager at the time and the general concensus was that he was greedy and didn't know when to pass and thought this may change with age, it would seem it hasn't for the best part but i still would've like to have had him back from loan for a bit to see if he could cut it in the premiership but i think he is one of those who will stand out in the championship but not in the premiership, certainly not what utd need that's for sure and he's certainly not 'the next zidane' as he was expected to be in 2006

He was annoyed at not being given a run in the 1st team. He never got a run in the 1st team because he was a greedy little ****.

He went off on loan, and while there declared his wish to leave for 1st team football.

Attitude problem if you ask me. Ditto with Giovani dos Santos.

Can only speak for myself and hope rest fans agree. Torres imo is more than likely to go, Im not going to give him loads of abuse for it as i was surprised in a way when he stayed past summer.

BUT to hand in his request 3 days prior to Jan window ending is disgraceful especially when on jan 9th he is perfectly happy according to himself. Chelsea have been after him for at least 2 seasons so i suspect they did what most clubs do and spoke to the player first and then official enquired. He should remain until summer then best of luck to were ever he goes excluding when he faces us :P

Dont understand why he thinks Chelsea will be the Saviour as their squad needs a slight rebuild their not 100% definatly going to have Champions league next year either at this point i just think Torres has had enough of it false promises etc but that was with previous owners but maybe he still see`s no changes happening quickly enough for his liking

Old Quote from Villa though he doesnt seem wrong at the moment
I am actually a little surprised. It looks like Nando is staying,” Villa said in the Daily Star Sunday. “After I spoke with him at the World Cup I thought he would sign for Chelsea.

“I think it must only be that Chelsea did not meet Liverpool’s valuation. Because, if they had, I am sure he would have made the move.”

“This is Liverpool’s last chance to keep him. They have to prove they are capable of challenging on all fronts this season, otherwise he will be gone. If Liverpool fail to win anything I am sure he will be at Chelsea next summer.”

Still tis crap as players id like to replace him if he leaves we wont get within a day

torres is in the prime of his career, can anyone really blame him for not wanting to head for a team who are in the cl and have a much better chance of qualifying again than his current team? he's been at liverpool for 3 years now, hasn't he? not like he hasn't given them a chance.

chelsea do have some rebuilding to do, looks like they want to start with him. not that i want chelsea to get him.

I do after saying we are like his English Athleti, or he would never join a rival etc.

If you don't mean something, don't say it, mind you apparently Guillem ballbag told him it would take liverpool 5 years to challenge and he said this on Radio Merseyside last night (could be wrong and could have been *******).

Spartak Chelksi will probably be in a worse situation than us in 2 years, that plonker owner seems bored.

Or more like Harry plays favourites, so if he doesn't like you, there is little chance for you. Similarly if he loves a player, it doesn't matter how crap you play you will still play often, Crouch being a prime example.

it would be really funny if Man Utd put im £50m bid (to equal the release clause) for Torres! Wont ever happen but would be nice to get a chuckle out of it ( yes Im sure they could get the cash together if required)...any offer would probably be rejected also

Looks like the general consensus (from the media) on the Torres front is that he's not going anywhere unless Chelsea come up with an offer of £50m.

As mentioned before, I dont think anyone is begrudging him a move, I think the main gripe is the manner of the timing of the transfer request.

I would be interested to know the opposite side of the coin, not how the Liverpool fans feel, but how the Chelsea fans feel. For quite a while now many Chelsea fans have sat on the forum and happily declared that there is no-one from the Liverpool team they would want because they arent good enough, so my question would be what do they think , do they actually want Torres?

I don't think any chelsea fans have ever said they wouldn't want torres. He's good enough for any team. As a chelsea fan I would be very very happy to have him.

Well I'm not going to go trawling through the forum for evidence, but I'm fairly certain I've seen people say theres no-one they'd want from Liverpool because the players arent good enough. (usually they add the exception of Reina)

Yeah I remember that but to be fair it was Gustov.

People like JohnnyG and a few others have said they would take Torres.

Hehehe :)

Yeah, I just wondered how the Chelsea fans felt, I'm perhaps a little over cynical at times, you know how it is, some folks dont rate a player for his actual ability they just rate them for the shirt they wear and suddenly flip their minds when that shirt changes.

AGD, what sort of price (pure cash, or cash plus player) would you be comfortable with? Would you be happy with Torres, but not for £50 million, or do you think thats fine? Would you rather pure cash, or less cash and throw in a player?

I'm not a chelsea fan but for 40 million I wouldn't want him either. No doubt about it he's one of the best players you could have goals to games and an amazing talent.

He's too lightweight though, I wouldn't want my club to play 40 million for a player that just won't play enough and is likely to miss a decent portion of the season.

The best thing for Torres is to head back home. The player you get in his first season was worth the money, the injury prone player now, isn't.

I'd love to have Torres but can't help feeling that £50m is just too much for him.
Having said that, we really need a striker who can score goals right now as DD & NA aren't what they used to be and to be fair there's none better than our Nando, the squad has everything else it needs for the next few years (barring another CB) so maybe RA will splash out.

Spartak Chelksi will probably be in a worse situation than us in 2 years, that plonker owner seems bored.

So bored he's already agreed to offer around £60m for 2 players this window alone, that's after spending £18m on 1 player last window.
