January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

I'd love to have Torres but can't help feeling that £50m is just too much for him.

Yeah thats the same feeling that many of my Chelsea friends have given me, they have touted that they wouldnt want to go higher than £35-40 million for him.

Would you be happy with something like £40m in cash + a player (we'll say Anelka for arguments sake) in order for it to be less in actual cash? Or is it the total "value" of £50 million that you feel is too much.

I guess in essence what I am trying to assess is the average Chelsea fans viewpoint on all this, for days we've heard all about it from Liverpool fans viewpoint but comparatively very little from Chelsea fans. Whether they would be happy with the move, what price they feel would be right, what they would consider is a good deal and whats a bad deal, whether they would rather the amount be spent on someone else etc.

If Uefa have their way, RA - a bored plonker or not - might not be able to help anymore. Which might explain why Chelsea are so willing to spend this window. That and their monumental collapse of course.

edit: Regarding Anelka. There's no way he's worth £10m to us. With his age, wage demands, resale value etc, signing him goes completely against the transfer philosophy the club have spoke about. Knocking off a couple of £m of the fee and taking Anelka on loan would be more realistic imo.

A player + cash deal is different as we'd be getting rid of some wages and a player who wouldn't get much of a look in anyway if we signed him.
Shame we haven't still got J. Cole, could've done a straight swap, is he still the Messiah up there? ;)

Not particularly, I suspect that the average Liverpool fans view of J. Cole being in the 11 at the moment is about on a par with the average Chelsea fans view of Yossi Benayoun being in the 11.

It's monumental but it's not of Liverpool proportions yet;)

I wish Benayoun was fit enough to start, there's not enough pressure for places.

So what have I missed? Do the Liverpool fans think Torres is on his way or not? How do you feel about him now it's fahct that he wants out of Liverpool?

Also read on Sky Sports that Taarabt says he's signing for us, what do Spurs fans think about this seeing he was deemed not good enough for them? Personally I'll believe it when I see it, he wouldn't be the first player to say that he's signing for us only for him to be miss-quoted/lying about the whole thing.

It looks like Liverpool want him to stay and he wants the classic reassurances.
I cant see a deal being made unless some type of clause is triggered.

Looking at Liverpool though all they need is 3-4 class players and they will defiantly be a force in the league again so I cant really see the point in a move to another team in the prem.

Having said that, we really need a striker who can score goals right now as DD & NA aren't what they used to be and to be fair there's none better than our Nando, the squad has everything else it needs for the next few years (barring another CB) so maybe RA will splash out.

So bored he's already agreed to offer around £60m for 2 players this window alone, that's after spending £18m on 1 player last window.

you wat

The difference is it took us 18 months to get this bad. At this rate you'll be at this level by May :p

We're on the up & will be pushing for a UEFA spot easily this season, that's if we win the relegation 6 pointer coming up on Sunday.

Wonder if this would change his mind, probably not

If Torres does leave, he better hope Carra's not fit for next Sunday. Could end up being Torres's first and last game if the stories about how well those 2 get on are true ;)

I heard that.
If he were to sign I doubt he'd play Sunday anyway, temperatures will still be too high.
