January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

Was anything confirmed or denied about Spurs bidding for Carroll Saturday?

Makes you wonder why if Spurs have almost 40m to spend on anyone of Aguero, Rossi, Llorente or Negredo like Balague says why not up the offer for Carroll if the money is there

Regarding Carroll £23m for someone who has played half a season in the Premiership and that's a paltry sum? :o Bent a proven goal scorer went for less than that. Carroll in the current market if Bent is worth £18m is not worth anything more than £10m

You pay what they're worth, not what you can afford.

My point is though that it's obviously all BS, how can Spurs one minute go from bidding 23m on Carroll and then switch their attentions to a player almost double in price and clearly light years ahead playing wise a day later?

I guess bidding for 4 strikers all in 1 day is proof enough though :p

Sadly someone over at RAWK who's trusted by a lot of people saying Torres is definitely off to Chelsea tomorrow, also says Adam isn't happening and Young has a slim chance.

Torres also ruined Comollis transfer plans for this window by leaving it so late... I am set on him leaving now and have been for most of the day.

Just hope we can get some sort of a replacement in for the time being.

i think spurs should be looking at strikers like llorente or nilmar

P.S thanks to the mods who deleted my posts :D saved me some aggro

I actually wouldn't mind it if we had a try for llorente. I rather rate him, and best of all his proper name is fernando Torres, so we wouldn't even need to change our shirts or our songs. One Fernando Torres out, one Fernando Torres in :D

Hearing that Levy want a striker from our targets, and Diarra wrapped up tomorrow.

In January? That's a lot of money mid-season.

Funny you should mention that, only today I was saying that it seemed that a lot more money was being thrown around this year than usual in January. Anyone got the amounts for January for the last decade?

Some mental rumours that Spurs have put in £30m/£40m etc bids for all of La Liga's top strikers (outside of the big 2). Quite unnerving if true, where the hell have they got that money from

3billion doesn't mean 3billion cash, and 40mil, with a potential intention to spend 10's-100's mils more is something generally 3billion in total assets just won't be possible with.

Either way, its mad, and frankly Spurs will start to look a little daft if they run around bidding 10, then 15, then 20, up to 45mil for random half decent players up to top players, AND they all turn Spurs down.

They can't compete financially for 4th right now, Harry is just asking to send them into financial oblivion, as per usual.

The real question is, just how does Harry do it, my money's on taking the boss out for a nice meal and slipping him a ruphie, stealing his financial info and running around placing bids like a madman.

Aguero looks good but, come on, he's a 1 in 2 striker whose in the best league in the world for strikers(loads of truly woeful defensive teams who all play mostly all out attack football).

Forlan managed 32 goals in 32 starts a couple seasons back, Aguero has hit 1 goal for every 2 starts, for 3 years straight, 40million is a joke for Aguero. Villa was less with a much better strike rate AND he had Spanish national team price included, and the Euro/world cup winner to boot.

lol, the sun is going with the story that Torres goes for(I assume their asking price is around 50mil) they are going to stump up 30mil for Carrol, 15mil for Young, and 8 mil for Adams.

30mil for Carroll I think isn't quite as outrageous as people would think, he's big, strong, but he's fast. Crouch is a big girl, can't jump, no power in his headers and is slow as hell. Carroll is strong, fast(not Henry, but decent pace), great header, but has a powerful shot, he could turn into a Shearer type battering ram, maybe not the most sublime football, but effective. 30mil for potential with a little bit of evidence in the league this year is probably too much, but, how much did Rooney go for based off a pretty poor scoring record? If he ends up banging in 20 a year for the next decade it would be cheap.

Young for 15mil, can't see it, and if he's that cheap, frankly Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea should all jump right into a bidding war. Adam's for 8mil, should be close.

It's panic buying to try and get into the top 4 again whilst also trying to show some ambition to the players and fans. It could very realistically end up with 2nd to 5th not being separated by many points at all, and no-one wants to miss the CL boat, especially the Spurs board.
