Again, remember the differences, Bent wanted to move on, he asked for a transfer in the summer, Suarez wanted to move on he was always looking for a move to the three big leagues from Holland. Newcastle don't want to sell Carroll, he hasn't asked for a tranfer, and he's playing very well.
He's got 11 in the league, after a good scoring year last year, proving he can do it in the EPL, 3rd highest scorer and theres a lot to his game. He's definately not just a Crouch type, hit it long or from set pieces and hope he gets a header.
Like I said, 30mil if he goes on to score 15+ a season for a decade, is pretty damn cheap. How many had Rooney been scoring at Everton before he went for 20-25mil(can't remember how much) , what, 6 goals or so.
Don't see why the fans or the club would be happy with 30 mil, player you can't replace today, about 1/3 of their goals come from him, they'll slip down the table without a decent striker and they are only a short run of bad results from being in the relegation zone. For a guy who might be your main striker for the next decade, its a bad deal.
