January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

Just checked my phone and first thing I see is Everton reject a bid from Spurs for Neiville!!! Not the action I want to be seeing!!!

He was? When he was asked if he was leaving all Houllier said was he's a very good player and there's liked by a lot of clubs or words to that effect.

Yeah there was an interview I saw online with him where he said he wouldnt be selling Young in this window. I suppose it could have been website bunkum.

Come on Baz give us your reflections on the day now it's all but confirmed that Torres (your best players in your words) has left and you've replaced him with Carroll (regardless of the fee)

I know you've got the kid from Ajax as well but surely Liverpool have weakend themselves today?

Why bow to the pressure and sell Torres? Fergie for example would never sell one of our best players to a direct rival

Torres been rubbish NOT wanted to play for liverpool whats the point having a player that dont want to play for is current club let him go.

Pienarr and possibly Neville, fantastic bit of buisness for Spurs :D. How much revenue did we make for getting into the CL, 40million? Looks like we are going to spend 4 million. Oh dear.

Cant speak for Baz, but for me, I'm not sure we actually are weakened, I actually think we are pretty much the same, potentially better off even. Had to sell Torres, he clearly didnt want to stay any more and no sense in having him continue to mope and not try.

So from 40 million you think you gained, this season Spurs have only spent 4 million extra including wage uplift on new players?

Not bad going, but then again you're only chance of being back there again is if you win it. I wouldn't waste money either :D

Surely this is going to make Liverpool getting CL football ******* difficult now though. Chelsea have reinforced massively, United are always up there, Arsenal are always up there, City are only going to get better...where's the space for Liverpool?

I think that's it. Given that torres wanted to leave so badly, I wouldn't say liverpool were weakened as such. If he'd stayed, team spirit would have been affected and he wouldn't be performing at 100%. Now, liverpool have two, keen, young players.

I actually think we are stronger. Torres has been a shadow of his former self for the past 20 months. He may well get his form back at chelsea, but he simply did not want to be at Liverpool anymore.

We have got Suarez, Carroll, and it looks like one more to come Nzogbia young or Adam.

|Good days work;)

PMSL oh come on lets not delude ourselves. If 2 weeks ago you were told Carroll was coming in for Torres even if Suarez is there, you couldn't find a liverpool fan on this board to say you would be 'the same' or 'potentially' better off.

You just potentially lost the best striker in the EPL and replaced him with someone you can boot the ball at.

So if Ronaldo scores the winning goal against UTd in the champs league final, they wouldn't be rivals? :p

If Chelsea had offered 80mil and Chelsea was where Ronaldo had dreamed of playing his entire career, he'd now be playing at Chelsea, thats how life works.

Wait, Real, they have to be completely boned right, 80/60/30/30mil for Ronnie, Cack, Barndoor and Deadwood(or was it 40mil?), if they are all on 5 year contracts, then their fee's will be included in the first year you can't make more than a 45mil euro loss. Those 4 alone would average out at 40mil a year for 5 seasons, they then got Ozil, Di Maria, Carvalho, that young striker/winger guy, Khedira, Arbeloa.

I do have a sneaking suspicion the rules will be changed as several of the biggest Euro clubs panick themselves to death and put pressure on Uefa. Or will we have a season where City, Real, Barca(maybe? not sure if they are profitable after their tv revenue eventually gets paid to them) and several other huge clubs are all refused entry into the champs league, would be interesting at least.

Funny how opinions change in little over 48 hours, wasn't that long ago that regardless of Torres' form no Liverpool fans would justify his sale

Certainly seems that Sky are glossing over the fact that Liverpool imo are weakening themselves, all they keep going on about is Carroll going there rather than Torres leaving
